With its enabling technologies and inherently international environment, space is uniquely positioned to aid humanity in responding to and solving some of the most time-critical challenges that we face on Earth. With various satellite and Earth-observation technologies providing us with real-time data of our home planet, we’re empowered to map, understand - and more importantly, mitigate - everything from wildfires to deforestation to illegal fishing, whilst improving things like supply chain efficiency, agricultural practices and disaster management coordination. In parallel, there is significant commercial competition emerging from key players in space, particularly with respect to space exploration and the use of space resources. Ensuring the cooperative and responsible use of space and its technologies at a global scale is essential to our collective future - and herein lies the core mission of The Karman Project.

The Karman Project is an award-winning non-profit foundation uniting global decision-makers to drive urgent, collaborative action for a sustainable and peaceful future in space. With the space domain becoming increasingly vital to addressing humanity’s most urgent challenges – from climate monitoring and disaster management to global communications and the future of health – we’re working to safeguard space for generations to come.

We run high-impact programs that accelerate the work of exceptional space leaders and organisations. This curated and diverse community includes high-level leaders from more than 70 nations, from astronauts to agency heads, industry executives, researchers, and artists.

Our flagship Fellowship and Pioneer Programs focus on three pillars: Leadership, Dialogue and Action. Fellows build trust, exchange ideas, and drive forward collaborative projects across six key themes: Sustainability, Education, Empowerment, Cooperation, Science, and Inspiration. These programs are supported by global events and partnerships with trusted institutions such as the University of Oxford, Blue Origin’s Club for the Future, and King Charles’ Sustainable Markets Initiative.

The Karman Project has supported the development of over 80 capacity-building projects around the world (aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals), directly improving the lives of more than 5 million people and delivering an estimated 8.8x social return on investment. We’ve awarded 90 scholarships to high-impact leaders, hosted delegations in 10+ countries, and contributed to space policy at the United Nations level.

In an effort to incentivise macro-level changes in space, The Karman Project is currently launching the Space Peace Prize™ with the support of Founding Partners to recognise and elevate extraordinary contributions to international cooperation in space. It aims to stand as the foremost international recognition for projects advancing peace and sustainability in space, and accelerate strategic engagements across the sector during a time marked with global uncertainty.
