Our Mission and North Star: Jobs for the Future (JFF) is mission-driven to transform the U.S. workforce and education systems to achieve equitable economic advancement for all. Millions of people are unfairly shut out of quality jobs and the chance for a better life due to inequitable, disconnected, and hard-to-navigate systems. We're working to fix these broken systems and reach our bold North Star goal: In 10 years, 75 million people facing systemic barriers to advancement will work in quality jobs.

Our story: Founded in 1983, JFF began as a regional nonprofit helping a few states assess their workforce needs, assisting employers to find skilled workers, and helping workers move into higher-wage jobs. JFF is now a national leader in workforce development and education, working across sectors to improve labor market outcomes for youth and adults, particularly for people who earn low wages and face barriers to economic mobility and for people of color—often emphasizing Black, Latine, Indigenous, and underrepresented AAPI individuals.

JFF designs and refines leading-edge education and workforce solutions, scales programs through national coalitions and networks, influences federal and state policy as well as employer and industry action, and invests capital to incubate new solutions and accelerate innovation. JFF works with partners to catalyze impact across the entire ecosystem of work and learning, from postsecondary institutions to workforce boards, from tech startups to community-based nonprofits, from large corporations to government agencies, and from philanthropists to policymakers. JFF's headquarters are in Boston, MA, and also has offices in Washington, DC, and Oakland, CA.
