Home Plate Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit organization serving young people in Redford, Detroit, and surrounding Michigan communities through athletics, education, mentorship, and community support.
We use baseball, softball, and structured youth programming as tools to help participants build confidence, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and a stronger sense of belonging. Our goal is to reduce financial and social barriers that may prevent young people from accessing positive athletic and educational opportunities.
Our programs support youth through skills instruction, mentorship from positive adult role models, educational encouragement, equipment assistance, program access, and community-centered activities. We strive to create safe and welcoming environments where every participant can learn, grow, and develop the skills needed to succeed both on and off the field.
Donations help provide coaching, equipment, facility access, educational resources, transportation assistance, program scholarships, and other services that make participation more accessible for families.

Help Us Create a Safe Home Base for Detroit Youth
Story Every Great Community Starts Somewhere For the past several years, Home Plate Foundation Inc. has operated from a small family home in Redford, Michigan. This house has never been just an address. It has become a place where young people gather after practice, receive mentoring, finish homework, enjoy meals together, and simply spend time in a safe and supportive environment. As our programs continue to grow, so have the needs of the young people we serve. What once worked for a small group is no longer enough. On busy weekends, every room is in use. Community meetings are held around the dining table. Equipment is stored anywhere there is available space. Sometimes youth participating in extended activities or special programs stay overnight under adult supervision because traveling back and forth is not always practical. The house has become our office, meeting room, classroom, equipment storage, and youth center—all at once. We are incredibly grateful for what this home has allowed us to accomplish. But we have reached its limits. Why We Need A New Home Base We are raising funds to secure a larger property that can safely serve as our permanent community headquarters. Our vision includes: • Dedicated mentoring rooms • Homework and tutoring space • Indoor meeting area • Equipment storage • Community kitchen • Multi-purpose classroom • Safe overnight accommodations for approved youth programs • Outdoor gathering space A larger facility would allow us to welcome more families, expand our programs, and better support every child who walks through our doors. More Than A Building This campaign is not about buying a bigger house. It is about creating stability. A permanent home base means fewer limitations, more opportunities, and a place where young people know they are always welcome.
