Hana Lima — "working hands" — is what generations of Hawaiʻi families have built their lives on. Today, the trades that shaped our islands face a generational gap: experienced craftspeople are retiring, demand for skilled labor is at record highs, and too many local keiki don't know these careers are open to them.
Hana Lima Youth Foundation exists to close that gap.
We don't run a parallel training program. We serve as a bridge — connecting Hawaiʻi's youth to the union halls, registered apprenticeships, and trade pathways already operating across the state. We help young people understand what the trades actually offer:
- Living wages from day one
- Debt-free training (you earn while you learn)
- Retirement, healthcare, and union benefits
- The dignity of building something real with your own hands
Through partnerships with Hawaiʻi's trade unions, employers, schools, and families, HLYF makes sure every keiki who wants a future in the trades has someone in their corner showing them the way in.
Your gift helps us reach more young people, build deeper partnerships with Hawaiʻi's trade community, and turn curiosity about a trades career into a real first step.
Hana Lima Youth Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. All gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
