In Ethiopia, too many older adults are suffering alone. With no pensions, no government support, and often no family to help, they face hunger, homelessness, and unsafe living conditions.
At Grace Elderly Care International, Inc. (GECI), we believe that every elderly person deserves to live with dignity, safety, and peace. We work in partnership with local volunteers in Ethiopia to support the most vulnerable and abandoned elders.
Our Mission
To improve the well-being of vulnerable older adults in Ethiopia by providing essential resources, safe shelter, and compassionate support.
What We Do
- Monthly Sponsorship Program We connect donors directly with elderly individuals in need. For just $20/month, donors help cover essentials like food, hygiene items, and medicine. These small gifts create life-changing stability for our elders.
- Repairing Uninhabitable Homes Many elders live in unsafe or crumbling houses. We organize home repairs to install roofs, windows, doors, and beds with the help of local volunteers.
- Temporary Shelter for the Homeless For elders with no place to go, we rent modest homes to provide a temporary haven. They receive shelter, food, basic medical care, and emotional support while we work with local leaders to find longer-term solutions.
- Local Volunteer Mobilization We engage local volunteers to deliver care, perform home visits, and support elders with cleaning, repairs, and companionship. Our approach is community-centered and culturally grounded.

Why This Matters to Me I was born in Ethiopia and have witnessed firsthand how the elderly are often left behind—especially those with no family, income, or government support. I’ve sat with grandmothers who sleep on cowhide or bare floors, who eat once a day if they’re lucky. I've met elderly men who once raised families and worked hard, only to spend their final years alone and homeless, begging door-to-door for a piece of bread. These are not isolated stories. This is the reality for far too many older adults in Ethiopia. That’s why I founded Grace Elderly Care International, Inc.—to restore hope and dignity to those who’ve been forgotten.
