Florida Immigrant Coalition

FLIC is a dynamic statewide organization with 85 organizational members and many allies engaged in diverse social justice movements. FLIC’s membership includes labor unions, faith groups, LGBTQ and youth organizations, farmworkers organizations - just to name a few - located throughout the State, in both cities and rural areas. Founded in 1998, and formally incorporated in 2004, FLIC’s mission is to grow the connection, capacity, and consciousness of communities to strengthen pro-immigrant power in Florida. Our vision is to create a Florida that is a true home for all and our core constituency are immigrants whose marginalization exists at the intersection of immigration status and other vulnerabilities, like racism and poverty. Through the seamless integration of community organizing and social services we empower and uplift those who bear the biggest burdens of inequality.

FLIC utilizes a comprehensive and multifaceted Theory of Change with strategically integrated programming to advance our mission. Our Theory of Change contains four core strategies which include:

  1. Reclaiming Governance to Improve Quality of Life: We build representative and accountable governing power through expanding and informing the electorate to shape an active and conscious citizenry.  We do so by methodically engaging marginalized immigrant communities with year-round naturalization, voter registration, political education, voter turnout , and issue advocacy efforts.
  2. Expand Consciousness and Communications to Impact Culture: We transform culture, by building consciousness and story-based testimonial communications to impact the world of ideas, and shift hearts and minds, to empower immigrants to own the narrative of how our communities are talked about and understood. Our vision is unapologetically feminist, regenerative, abolitionist, and pro-Black
  3. Build a “Bigger We”: We empower  individual and organizational members through strategic support while also fortifying our base through membership expansion. We advance this goal through comprehensive community protection programs and services, which include capacity building, pro-bono legal immigration services, our hotline, joint planning, and participatory budget processes.
  4. Organizational Sustainability: We strengthen the sustainability of our work and movement by investing in capacity and leadership building and by fostering a nurturing and accountable work environment

Through a contribution today, you join the movement that supports and defends our immigrant friends, families, and neighbors. You become the change our immigrant communities need.
