The Evangelical Assembly Church (EAC) is a non-profit, charitable, and community-based organization registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, and registered in Manipur on 6 February 1986. The organization is headquartered in Churachandpur, Manipur, and has been serving communities across Manipur, Tripura, and other parts of Northeast India for several decades. EAC is also registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), enabling it to partner with international organizations in advancing sustainable development and humanitarian initiatives.

While EAC has historically been involved in faith-based community service and social outreach, it established its Relief and Development Department (RDD) in 2004 to address the growing socio-economic, environmental, and humanitarian challenges faced by vulnerable communities. Since its inception, the RDD has evolved into a professional development wing focused on promoting equitable development, sustainable livelihoods, environmental stewardship, peacebuilding, and community resilience among marginalized populations.

Over the years, EAC-RDD has successfully implemented numerous development projects in partnership with national and international donors, government agencies, and civil society organizations. Its work has benefited thousands of tribal households, small and marginal farmers, women, children, youth, landless laborers, and vulnerable communities in remote and underserved areas.

Vision: “To build a society where fairness, equity, and security are upheld for all, empowering every individual to live with dignity, equality, and hope.”

Mission

The mission of EAC is:

a) To advance social justice, equity, and inclusive development for all, ensuring that every person is treated with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity.

b) To collaborate with like-minded institutions, community groups, and other stakeholders in addressing issues of common concern for the betterment of society.

c) To work towards the holistic development and transformation of communities, ensuring inclusive growth, well-being, and empowerment for all.

Core Values

EAC’s work is guided by the following core values:

• Equity and Inclusion

• Community Ownership

• Integrity and Stewardship

• Peace and Reconciliation

These values inform all organizational policies, programs, partnerships, and interactions with communities and stakeholders.

Strategic Goals

EAC seeks to achieve the following strategic goals:

  1. Empower poor and vulnerable communities by promoting equitable access to sustainable livelihoods and economic opportunities.

  2. Enhance access to essential needs such as nutritious food, adequate shelter, clean water, sanitation, and quality healthcare.

  3. Improve quality of life through inclusive education, skills development, and promotion of cultural and human values.

  4. Support inclusive and equitable development that promotes dignity, respect, and equal opportunities for all individuals.

  5. Expand opportunities for women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other underrepresented groups through targeted and inclusive programs.

  6. Safeguard and regenerate natural ecosystems through environmental conservation, climate resilience, and sustainable resource management.

  7. Foster peace, social cohesion, dialogue, and mutual understanding among diverse communities.

Areas of Work

Since 2004, EAC-RDD has implemented programs across multiple sectors, including:

Sustainable Livelihoods and Food Security:

EAC supports vulnerable households in improving food security and household income through sustainable agriculture, agroecological practices, horticulture development, livestock promotion, irrigation systems, farmer capacity building, and market linkages.

The organization has implemented projects on System of Rice Intensification (SRI), watershed development, orchard-based livelihood development, food security enhancement, and tribal development. These initiatives have helped communities improve agricultural productivity, diversify income sources, and strengthen resilience to economic and environmental shocks.

Natural Resource Governance and Environmental Conservation:

EAC has extensive experience in promoting community-led natural resource management and ecosystem governance. Through partnerships with organizations such as Bread for the World (Germany), the organization has supported communities in strengthening land governance systems, village land use planning, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable management of forests and natural resources.

The organization actively promotes community participation in environmental stewardship and climate-resilient development practices that balance conservation and livelihood needs.

Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience

Recognizing the increasing impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities, EAC integrates climate resilience into its development programming. The organization promotes climate-smart agriculture, sustainable land-use practices, water conservation, agroforestry, and community-based adaptation strategies to reduce vulnerability to climate-related risks.

Health and Nutrition:

EAC has implemented community-based health and nutrition initiatives aimed at improving access to healthcare services, promoting preventive health practices, and enhancing nutrition outcomes among vulnerable populations. Special attention is given to women, children, and underserved rural communities.

Education and Capacity Building:

The organization supports educational initiatives, leadership development, community awareness programs, skills training, and institutional strengthening. EAC believes that education and capacity development are essential for empowering individuals and communities to become active agents of change.

Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion:

Manipur has experienced prolonged social and ethnic tensions that have significantly affected communities. EAC works to promote peace, reconciliation, dialogue, and social cohesion through community engagement, confidence-building initiatives, and inclusive development processes.

The organization encourages collaborative problem-solving and community solidarity across diverse social groups, recognizing peace as a prerequisite for sustainable development.

Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response:

EAC has responded to various humanitarian emergencies, including conflict-induced displacement, natural disasters, food insecurity, and community crises. Humanitarian interventions have included relief distribution, shelter support, community recovery initiatives, psychosocial support, and resilience-building measures.

The organization seeks to bridge humanitarian assistance with long-term development by promoting locally led recovery and resilience approaches.

Don't Let Conflict End Their Education

More than three years after the outbreak of the Manipur conflict in May 2023, thousands of families remain displaced, living in relief camps and rented accommodation with no certainty about when they will be able to return home. For many children, the conflict has stolen not only their homes but also the stability, security, and opportunities that every child deserves. Every day, parents face heartbreaking choices. With little or no stable income, they struggle to provide enough food and meet basic household needs. Education - once a source of hope for their children - has become a burden they can no longer afford. School fees, uniforms, textbooks, stationery, examination fees, and transportation costs are simply beyond the reach of many displaced families. Behind every child is a story of loss and resilience. Despite the hardship they have endured, these children continue to dream of becoming teachers, nurses, engineers, and leaders who can help rebuild their communities. They attend school with determination, but many live with the constant fear that they may have to drop out simply because their families cannot afford the cost of learning. Education is far more than attending classes. It gives children a sense of normalcy in the midst of crisis, protects them from the risks associated with prolonged displacement, restores hope, and equips them with the knowledge and confidence to build a better future. Every child who remains in school is one step closer to breaking the cycle of poverty, displacement, and uncertainty. Your support can change that story. By helping cover essential educational expenses, you will give a displaced child the opportunity to continue learning, to dream without fear, and to believe that their future is still worth fighting for. Together, we can ensure that the legacy of conflict is not a generation deprived of education, but a generation empowered to rebuild their lives with dignity, hope, and resilience. This campaign will support children from internally displaced families living in relief camps and host communities across conflict-affected areas of Manipur. Priority will be given to children from the most vulnerable households, including widowed mothers, orphaned children, families with disabilities, and households with little or no stable source of income. Your contribution can make a real difference: £50 can provide school supplies, notebooks, and stationery for one child. £100 can help purchase a school uniform, shoes, and a school bag. £200 can support a child's educational expenses for a school term. £300 can help keep one child in school for an entire academic year, covering essential educational costs. Every donation, regardless of size, helps remove barriers to education and gives a child the opportunity to learn, grow, and dream again. Together, we can replace uncertainty with opportunity and ensure that conflict does not steal a child's future.
