Elimu Fanaka is a non-profit organization impacting learners in public primary schools from rural underserved communities in Kenya to access quality education.
"Elimu Fanaka'' is a Kiswahili phrase meaning "Education and Prosperity." After going through a primary experience of lack of education and opportunities, in 2019, Kazi founded Elimu Fanaka and the organization is currently working with over 5000 children, in 11 schools children in 3 counties, reaching 89 teachers and 800+ parents in Kenya.
We work across 7 schools in Taita Taveta County and 3 in Kajiado County and 1 in the Maasai Mara - Narok County. Our near future goal is to reach 25 schools by 2025 and to launch similar programs in Kilifi, Kwale, Makueni and Kakamega.
Elimu Fanaka has 2 programs - Nawiri ( "to thrive) and Imarisha ("to strengthen"). Nawiri focuses on the leaners (children) to provide them technology and literacy as well as alternative learning methods that help with their mental health and wellbeing, while Imarisha focuses on the parent and teacher's capacity strengthening for them to provide holistic support the the leaners!
We work alongside like-minded partners, teacher, leaners, the government and the community to identify and solve the existing challenges leveraging education as a tool and schools as centers for creating sustainable communities.
Elimu Fanaka's goal is to provide access to quality education and ultimately to create sustainable communities.
