What happens when the people closest to a community’s challenges are given the tools, resources, and support to lead change?
ConnectED Fellows invests in rural educators who are already making a difference in their communities and equips them to lead even greater change. Through our Fellowship program, educators receive leadership training, mentorship, and seed funding to help communities identify their own priorities and turn ideas into action.
Since 2020, Fellows have led projects in 85 rural schools across Guatemala, reaching more than 19,000 students. But the impact extends far beyond the classroom. Working alongside parents, community leaders, municipalities, and local organizations, Fellows bring people together to improve education, create opportunities for children, and strengthen their communities.
Projects are identified, designed, and led by communities themselves. They address priorities such as literacy, clean water, nutrition, technology, school infrastructure, girls’ leadership, and student well-being. Every project requires local participation and investment. On average, communities contribute 70% of total project value through volunteer labor, local fundraising, materials, partnerships, and in-kind support, multiplying the impact of every donor dollar.
We don’t bring solutions to communities. We invest in local leaders who help communities turn their own ideas, strengths, and aspirations into lasting change.
