COMPASS Refugee Centre is a leader in working with people seeking asylum in Canada. Your support ensures that people who are currently in the United States but are Canada-bound, will get the support they need when they arrive here.

We host the Canada-U.S. Border Rights clinic, a virtual legal clinic that can be accessed from anywhere in the States. It ensures people have the right information, and are prepared to meet the expectations they will face at the border so they will not be turned back.

Once across, our experienced staff and volunteers work with people across dozens of towns and cities who have nowhere else to go. We provide support through Canada's protection process, helping people access legal support, translating critical evidence for refugee claims. We also connect people to a variety of service providers for shelter, food, employment, education, and so much more.

On average, 90% of the people we help are approved for protection in Canada.

Once protected, we assist with the crucial work of being reunited with family members that had to be left behind in the original flight for safety. Thousands of people have had their lives changed forever because of the work of COMPASS.

As we look to the future, we see a world with few answers to growing problems. We see people driven from all they have known coming to Canada seeking to be safe, to be well, to have a chance for their next generation to thrive and not be refugees. Each pillar of our mission is designed for clear and meaningful action in response.

Please join us in action by donating TODAY. Let’s work together to bring peace and protection to those that we can!!

Everyone Deserves to Live in Safety

People seeking protection in Canada often come through the United States. It's pretty hard for many to get to Canada otherwise given the only land border is the one between the two countries. There are conditions that have to met to be allowed to cross to Canada, and it's not always as straight-forward as it sounds. COMPASS hosts the virtual Canada-U.S. Border Rights Clinic. This is a legal clinic that anyone can access free of charge before they try to cross to ensure they have the right information and are properly prepared when they approach the Canadian border. Then, once allowed across, many find their way to COMPASS and get the vital help they need to navigate Canada's protection process and get settled safely in welcoming communities. They are scared. They are uncertain. They can't stay in the States. You can help them be safe at last in Canada. A monthly gift of $34 will support one person each month. A monthly gift of $94 will support one family each month. A one time gift of $250 or $500 or $1000 or _ (your choice), will help COMPASS deliver the services needed at the border, and once across. They have come this far. Up to 90% of the people we help are granted Canada's protection. That means your donation WILL make a difference.

Hearing Us Above the Crowd!!

The first handheld mobile phone that became available to the public weighed just over 4 pounds. It was designed to break the cord that tied communication to a particular place, and make it possible to stay connected no matter where you were. Forty years later, cell phones are a whole lot lighter, and do a whole lot more. They are the means to tell our stories and to be connected to just about everything. It has changed the way we communicate, and the expectations around communication. Everything needs to be done in mind that it will land on someone's phone. And it needs to be heard above the crowd of messages people receive everyday! It takes money to have ease of accessibility, quality design, and reliable delivery. This fund will cover the not so sexy but very critical annual costs of licenses and subscriptions that keep us connected to the people we help, serving well the donors who support us, and reporting to the community that counts on us to meet the needs of the people we do.

I am personal friends with one of the guys helping get this off the ground, and I know that he works tirelessly to protect humanitarian rights, reunite families, and welcome newcomers into the community. I trust anything he is backing.
