2nd year of extremism: Share your love with queers in Russia
On November 30th, it will be two years since Russia's Supreme Court declared the "International LGBT movement" as extremist. This decision hasn't just threatened our community, it's criminalized self-expression and stoked fear for thousands of queer Russians. At ComingOut, we believe that even in the darkest times, unconditional love can defeat fear. We need to raise $5,000 by January 1, 2026 to continue providing crisis-level legal support. When someone is assaulted for who they are, when a person receives an “extremism” charge simply for existing openly, their only safe option is often to reach out to us. And they will always receive help free of charge. Over the past two years, the demand for legal consultations has grown by 320% as political pressure intensifies. This is why we need your support now more than ever. Our audience in Russia now extends to 50,000 people, and our monthly outreach averages 372,000 people. These are all the people that need our help and your support to keep going. In a time when being who you are can feel dangerous, your support helps us keep our doors open. Join us in creating real change and showing that compassion and courage can thrive even under pressure. ComingOut is receiving donations under a 501(c)(3) Fiscal Sponsor in the States, so our U.S.-based donors may claim the maximum tax benefits allowed by U.S. tax law for their contributions.

Anti-LGBT laws in Russia had a big impact this last year : there’s an increase in homophobia throughout the country, members of the community are experiencing more problems accessing government services, and even close friends and family are reported to have become less supportive. The Russian state keeps attacking – but we don’t back down. Ongoing threats and legislation can’t stop us from protecting the Russian Queer community. Because of this increased repression, we’re expecting the requests for our legal support in particular to almost double this year. And there’s no way we can help everyone without your support! So please support us in funding the work of our lawyers, so every queer person who asks for help will have a friendly defender by their side. Since January 2024 alone ComingOut has conducted: 745 Psychological consultations 357 Legal consultations 110 Career consultations Your Contribution
Every euro donated will directly fund legal assistance for LGBTQ+ people in the country.
