Artists’ Television Access is a San Francisco-based, artist-run, non-profit organization that cultivates and promotes culturally-aware, underground media and experimental art. Mental Mountains Project was founded by Keith Batenhorst after years of daily struggle with his own mental health including panic attacks, anxiety, and self-medication. He turned his personal journey into a movement motivated by the idea that no matter how tall, we all face our own mental mountains each day. Inspired by the symbolism is overcoming and climbing our challenges one step at a time, Keith created Mental Mountains Project to show everyone the human spirit is stronger than we think. We at MMP live our lives by the motto to "keep showing up." We aim to inspire, create awareness, and raise funds for those who otherwise would not be able to afford & receive proper mental health services. 

Through ultra endurance challenges, and climbing expeditions we try to carry the weight of the world for the spirit that needs to know someone is out there fighting for them. It's possible to push past your self-imposed limits and live a life beyond what you could have dreamed of.

A community-supported independent library & artist workshop of printed material, fiscally sponsored by Intersection for the Arts.

The Prelinger Library in San Francisco offers thousands of historical maps, zines, documents, books and other materials, all of which are available for artists to reference or reuse. Its collections serve activists, writers, musicians, composers, poets, novelists, journalists, and historians. The Library was established in 2004 and has served over ten thousand reserach visits. Its collections have supported the production of artists talks series, films, novels as well as open-ended explorations by people working across all media types. As a 100% community-supported project, the Library s free to pursue equity and justice, abolition and libration, and to serve the community as a trans- and queer-safe space and infoshop for survival and resistance. The Library puts hospitality first and offers sparkling water or tea to every visitor.

The collections also hold government-produced documents from eras when artists and writers were widely employed in their production, offering art and literature in unexpected places as well as roadmaps toward civil societies. With stacks materials ranging from eighteenth century documents to works produced this week, the room serves as a slip in spacetime within which a couple hundred years of human experience and experiments can be browsed. Library hosts represent a range of subject-matter expertises including public transportation, radio science, zine making, natural history, library science, book arts, moving image history and production, and nonfiction writing.

Give Us The Floor nurtures a safe online peer-led community specializing in support for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth in distress.

Give Us The Floor provides 2SLGBTQIA+ youth and allies in distress with the peer-positive human connection that they are too often missing. Through a safe, inclusive mobile app, youth ages 13 to 17 and young adults ages 18 to 24 can access peer support in a youth-only community, breaking the isolation and shame cycles they are experiencing. Trained youth facilitate the confidential group discussion spaces, and participants help each other with prevalent mental health and social issues such as depression, isolation, anxiety, identity, discrimination, family and school challenges, bullying, relationships, domestic violence, and body image.

Within this supportive community:

- Youth in distress from all backgrounds and locations across the US have 24/7 access to peer support in a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential environment.
- Participants communicate anonymously as often as they wish via closed group chats and discussion channels (no one-on-one communication is possible)
- They share daily life struggles, insights and accomplishments, encourage each other, and provide non-judgmental feedback without fear of stigma, taboo or shame
- Groups are organized by age and primary discussion topic to keep the chats relevant and relatable
- Youth who need adult help are quickly identified and given resources to help them.

Research reveals that increased isolation is contributing to the rapid deterioration of mental health and wellbeing. It’s affecting youth way more than adults: Experiencing social isolation and loneliness [during adolescence/ childhood] increased the risk of depression up to 9 years later. \*

**After only 1 month with Give Us The Floor:**

- **83% of the participants report that they feel less lonely**
- **78% were helped with their struggles**
- **77% feel better about themselves**
- **70% experienced improved mental health**

- Nearly 50% of LGBTQ youth age 13-17 seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year and 18% of them did attempt suicide:\*\*
- LGBTQ youth of color reported higher rates than their white peers: 12% of white youth attempted suicide compared to 21% of Native / Indigenous youth, 20% of Middle ------- Eastern / Northern African youth, 19% of Black youth, 17% of multiracial youth, 16% of Latinx youth, and 12% of Asian / Pacific Islander youth\*\*
- LGBTQ youth who had access to spaces that affirmed their sexual orientation and gender identity reported lower rates of attempting suicide \*\*
- 60% of LGBTQ youth who wanted mental health support in the past year were not able to access care, including nearly 3 in 5 transgender youth and more than 3 in 5 cisgender youth\*\*

**The Challenge**
LGBTQ+ youth face higher rates of bullying, family rejection, and isolation than their peers. Hostile laws and censorship only deepen feelings of invisibility and fear. Without affirming support, too many young people struggle to imagine a future for themselves.

**Our Approach**
We believe change starts upstream, before crisis begins, by giving LGBTQ+ youth the tools, resources, spaces, and support they need to thrive. Our work is organized into three core program areas:

- **Storytelling**: Authentic, youth-driven narratives across YouTube, TikTok, Twitch, books, and live events that offer visibility, spark belonging, and remind LGBTQ+ youth they are never alone.
- **Education**: Flagship initiatives include *Youth Voices*, which trains teen leaders in advocacy and storytelling; *Changemakers*, a grant program that funds youth-led projects in schools and communities; *imi*, a free, research-backed digital mental health tool for LGBTQ+ teens; and classroom resources like *EduGuides*, which help educators bring inclusive stories into learning environments.
- **Global Community**: From our bilingual *It Gets Better Español* initiative to our Affiliate Network spanning 19 countries, we connect youth worldwide with culturally relevant content, resources, and support systems.

 We know young people thrive when they are seen, supported, and given space to grow on their own terms. Forbidden Colours collects and raises funds to support initiatives that help LGBTIQ+ people to fully live their lives in freedom with self-respect and dignity in Europe. They are also a leading advocate in exposing anti-LGBTIQ+ initiatives in Europe, and therefore conduct extensive advocacy with media, EU-institutions and member states. 

Forbidden Colours is a NPO linked to a fund managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, the major Belgian public benefit foundation, whose mission it is to contribute to a better society. 

We want all LGBTIQ+ persons to be able to get up every morning feeling it is okay to be who they are. We use our extensive network in the European institutions, and in several member states of the EU, to address the backlashes on LGBTIQ+ rights. With our media contacts across the world, we expose anti-LGBTIQ+ initiatives. By putting pressure through the media, we were able to put several cases higher on the political agenda.

The organization is considered as one of the most effective organizations to protect LGBTIQ+ rights on the European level. By closely monitoring the geopolitical forces behind state-sponsored anti-LGBTIQ+ campaigns, Forbidden Colours was able to expose several European governments for scapegoating the LGBTIQ+ community as a deception for their anti-democracy campaigns. 

They revealed cases such as the anti-LGBTIQ+ propaganda law in Hungary, an anti-LGBTIQ+ education reform in Poland and the needs of LGBTIQ+ persons fleeing Russia's war with Ukraine in the international media. With this, Forbidden Colours has gained the attention of the world media and has been featured in amongst others The Guardian, VICE & Sky News. The non-profit has led a campaign aiming to take down Hungary's infamous anti-LGBTIQ+ propaganda law. After 1,5 year of campaigning by Forbidden Colours, the Hungarian government was taken to the Court of Justice of the European Union. For the first time in the history of the EU, a member state was taken to court on the basis of violations of human dignity and human rights. Forbidden Colours was also able to convince the largest group of member states ever to intervene in a lawsuit against another member state.   

They also help organisations from all over the world to advocate more successfully at the European Union institutions and, for example, also works with local partners on the EU Global Human Rights Sanction Regime. Besides its political advocacy work, Forbidden Colours also works with the corporate world to create a more diverse, equal and inclusive workplace. They give trainings, keynotes and develop projects to raise awareness to the issues of the LGBTIQ+ community within the company. They also develop 'corporate social responsibility'-projects about LGBTIQ+ rights together with the corporate world. This helps companies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

Forbidden Colours

We are an LGBTQ+ nonprofit helping queer people and their close ones feel safer in Russia.

Coming Out LGBTQ+ Group has been helping LGBTQ+ people in Russia since 2008 by providing free psychological and legal support to LGBTQ+ people, engage in educational activities, produce information materials on LGBTQ+ issues and related topics, conduct research and engage in international advocacy, work with the wider society to recognize rights and freedoms for everyone, regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity. Since 2022 Coming Out has been working primarily online from outside Russia, though the work is still aimed at LGBTQ+ communities and their environment within the country. Within 2023 Coming Out has been working on over 40 court cases, provided >800 legal consultations, >3400 free psychological consultations, 275 peer-to-peer consultations for trans\*persons, conducted 2 studies with over 10,000 respondents, published numerous materials with an average 400 000 views monthly.

RAQC provides a safe and loving home for the queer community in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties. Programming at RAQC addresses multiple areas of need: support groups, peer counseling, and on-site mental health professionals contribute to the emotional wellbeing of our community. Classes and workshops on topics as diverse as screen printing, foraging, and self defense address our physical and creative needs. Social events like mixers, parties, and performances ensure that our region’s vibrant queer culture continues to flourish. In addition to our own programming, RAQC also serves as a safe and accessible space where all local queer organizations and individuals can host their own events.

The Queer & Allied Chamber of Commerce Africa (QACC Africa) was established to create an ecosystem that facilitates and promotes commercial relationships and widen supply-chains between queer owned and/or operated businesses, entrepreneurs and their allies, in nations throughout Africa. Although QACC Africa was formally registered in 2022, the underlying concept has been in existence since early 2021 when the three co-founders met and organised their first safe queer community event in Nairobi, Kenya. Our advocacy focuses on the principal of economic inclusion. To achieve its objectives, QACC Africa works closely with businesses, professional associations, multilateral business groups, and international, national, regional and community queer organisations. QACC Africa is the gateway for queer owned businesses and entrepreneurs throughout the continent to increase sales and strengthen business opportunities. Creating a strong network of queer and allied businesses and entrepreneurs, allows members to take their business further, finding opportunities with other queer entrepreneurs, businesses and potential investors. In time, QACC Africa will grow to be an incubator for queer start-ups and entrepreneurs to access both grants and investment. QACC Africa will establish a process and platform to certify queer owned and/or operated businesses, and those business allied to the community, that are truly inclusive. This will promote supply chain collaboration and procurement opportunities. Furthermore, QACC Africa will bring community members and allies together, and highlight the right resources for queer business owners, operators and entrepreneurs to be even more successful by providing professional capacity development through training, mentorship and the nurturing of talent. VISION: To facilitate a diverse and inclusive economy in Africa by establishing a dynamic and thriving commercial ecosystem for queer-owned and allied- operated businesses. MISSION: To promote and support the growth of queer-owned and/or operated businesses across Africa through training and capacity building, partnership formation, and networking in order to raise awareness about the impact of the queer economy and facilitate investment opportunities. OBJECTIVES: 1. To build and nurture queer and allied business trade, collaboration, procurement partnerships and supply chain corridors. 2. To strengthen queer owned and/or operated businesses and formalize queer entrepreneur's businesses. 3. To be an incubator for queer start- ups and entrepreneurs and be the hub for investors in queer and allied businesses. 4. To provide certification for queer owned and/or operated businesses, and allied corporates that actively support the queer community. 5. To advocate for economic inclusion and equality of access for the queer community. PROBLEM STATEMENT:  It is hard to truly know the statistics of the queer community in countries throughout Africa, however we all understand that just because people (and their businesses) may not be overtly "out and proud", the LGBTQ+ population in various African countries, as a percentage of population, can be considered and compared to other nations where statistics are available. If we consider Canada, which has a population of 38 million, smaller than most African nations, Canada is home to over 100,000 LGBTQ+ owned businesses. These businesses generate over US$16 billion in economic activity and employ over 435,000 Canadians. Therefore it is safe to assume that untapped LGBTQ+ business in Africa is big business and can be a driving force for economic activism and driving change on the continent: the power of the Pink Coin (Shilling, Franc, Dollar, Rand, etc). Throughout Africa, LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs face barriers, including having to hide who they were in business dealings to avoid losing opportunities, and the potential for exploitation by competitors, clients, employees, and government bodies. There is a growing number of individuals, organisations and companies looking to build business together – one connection at a time. A community of LGBTQ+ businesses, and even diverse procurement practices, will help tip the scales. QACC Africa incorporates all of these positive forces, quietly advocating amongst community and allied members, to make a more inclusive African economy, whilst recognising the challenges of each country on the continent.

The Other Foundation  is a community foundation that protects and advances the human rights, well being, and social inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and intersex people in southern Africa. It gathers support for those who are doing this work and gives support in a smart way that helps groups to work better for lasting change.  Currently, our primary purpose is to expand resources available for defending and advancing the rights of LGBTI people in  Southern Africa . We do this by working both as a grant-maker and a fundraiser. As a grant-maker, we support change through others, rather than directly ourselves. So we provide direct support to partners, while facilitating the building and sharing of knowledge. As a fundraiser, we focus on raising resources from a wide range of potential givers – particularly from within the region. One of the ways we intend to do this is by supporting campaigns to build awareness and reinforce appreciation for LGBTI people to enjoy their rights within a broader human rights framework. At present, we are located in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Our mission is to protect LGBTQ+ youth in Poland from the harms of homelessness and refugeehood. 

The Warsaw House Foundation's mission is to protect homeless and refugee  LGBTQ+ youth in Poland and provide them with the tools they need to live independently. Our inspiration was the  Ali Forney Center  (AFC)  n NYC, which is largest organization in the world offering support to homeless LGBTQ+ youth. We are honored that Carl Siciliano, the AFC's founder is on the board of the Warsaw House Foundation and works as an advisor. We place extra attention on HIV and STI education, support and prevention with the help of board member Dr. Joanna Kubica and the Smart Life Clinic in Warsaw.  After we took in our first LGBTQ+ youth to house on February 14th, 2023  we have been flooded with calls for housing and support from young people in need.  These are Polish Trans 18 year-olds from the Polish countryside in desperate need to escape their abusive and intolerant homes, young queer people with PTSD and untreated mental illness who need housing and support immediately, LGBTQ+ refugees from Ukraine and several young gay men from Iraq who suffered torture in their homeland, were detained and imprisoned at the Polish/Belarussian border for up to two years, and are now trying to build their lives in Poland.  We are also housing and supporting young LGBTQ+ people from Uganda and Egypt,  We are raising money to support the young people under our care, to house and feed them and pay for their medical needs and courses needed for them to start an independent life,  We are also raising money to hire staff (all of WH's work is now done by volunteers), to continue the renovation of our residential building and for short term emergency rentals.  We have a committed and professional team and a well planned strategy for both emergency and long term care.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!! This project has been brought to life through the collaborative efforts of Maavarim and the Gila Project, Israel's leading Trans* organizations. Headquartered in New York City, Aspies For Social Success, AFSS is a peer-run organization that provides support and social groups, as well as cultural events, to adults 18 and over who have either been diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome or an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), believe they might be on the Autism Spectrum, or who for other reason have difficulty with social communication, sensory processing, or executive functioning. AFSS is working to build a more inclusive community for individuals who otherwise may not have many opportunities or be able to find others with whom to socialize. We do not charge our members any fees, and our income comes exclusively from fundraising.

**The Problem**

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), approximately 1 in 68 individuals in the U.S. is somewhere on the autism spectrum. Because adulthood constitutes most of the human lifespan, the majority of these individuals are adults. In New York City, where AFSS is based, this corresponds to a population of nearly 100,000, with closer to 200,000 in the Greater New York area, most of which have not yet been identified. A common misconception is that individuals with autism prefer to be isolated and are not interested in either friendships or romantic relationships; in fact, for most adults, nothing could be farther from the truth. Consequently, there is a need for venues where adults on the spectrum can meet others who live with the same challenges, discuss and share the difficulties that they face in various aspects of their lives in a supportive environment, and be able to simply socialize with people who perceive and interact with the world in a manner similar to their own. Also, even though unemployment statistics for autistic adults are greatly overestimated (roughly half of AFSS group members are employed at some level), they are still higher than for any other disability. As such, many will not be able to afford the kinds of group and cultural activities that AFSS is working to provide. These costs can only be met through outside contributions and donations.
 
**Our Approach**

AFSS support groups, currently held in rented venues, allow members to discuss issues of concern to them in a group setting among other adults living with similar challenges. Each meeting starts with a specific theme chosen by the group. Past themes have included community, relationships, dating, isolation, and employment-related difficulties. For example, we have had discussions on what it means to be part of a community and on what an ideal community would be like. We then allow the conversation to evolve during the session, allowing members to relate their own personal stories to the group.
  
AFSS social groups encourage members to go out in public with others like them and to feel more a part of and accepted in a community, and meet at different restaurants and locations throughout the New York City area. This also provides an opportunity for the greater community to see that we are no different from anyone else and fully capable of participating in society in spite of our minor differences. These groups provide a sense of community for individuals who otherwise may not have many suitable opportunities to socialize, as well as somewhere to go, on a regular basis, with a relaxed, comfortable, judgment-free atmosphere where people can be themselves amongst others sharing similar difficulties and interests. 
  
AFSS cultural events provide opportunities for our groups to attend a variety of artistic, scientific, and cultural events. These take place in museums, galleries, exhibitions, theaters, and other venues throughout the NYC area.

Superbloom is a 501c3 focused on leveraging design as an intervention to change who technology serves. 

Superbloom (founded as Simply Secure) operates at the intersection of digital design and human rights. Since our founding in 2014, we’ve expanded our original focus on usable design practice for secure technologies to include programmatic interventions and research on socio-technical issues like surveillance capitalism, disinformation, and digital consent. Today we work to overcome the alarming lack of available resources in the public interest technology space by openly sharing our knowledge and partnering with organizations to identify unmet needs, design for access, and extend the impact of newly built tools and interventions.

Superbloom Design

OutFront Minnesota Community Services is Minnesota's largest LGBTQ+ advocacy organization. 

For over 35 years, OutFront Minnesota has advocated for more inclusive LGBTQ+ laws and policies at the state legislature, built more inclusive school environments for LGBTQ+ youth, and provided a helpline and support to LGBTQ+ folks experiencing violence.

OutFront has fought for LGBTQ+ equity since 1987, and our accomplishments are many. In 1993 we led the campaign to pass the Minnesota Human Rights Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity; in 2013 we organized to pass marriage equality; and in 2014 we passed The Safe & Supportive Schools Act, one of the strongest anti-bullying laws in the country.

Even in just the past several years OutFront has made enormous strides in organizing our community members and propelling the movement forward for LGBTQ+ rights in Minnesota. With our support—and after ten years of organizing—Minnesota finally passed a law to ban the harmful practice of conversion therapy. We also helped pass a law to make Minnesota a transgender refuge state, solidifying Minnesota as a bastion of LGBTQ+ rights in the Midwest. On the local level, we also passed municipal policies to make Minnesota more inclusive, such as passing gender inclusion policies in some of our largest school districts.

This is in addition to our educational equity work that supports over 3,000 LGBTQ+ youth with the trainings, resources, and events needed to build safer and more inclusive schools. We also support over 300 victims/survivors with our anti-violence helpline, financial assistance, and advocacy every year.

Liminal Works - For Collective Liberation

LGBTI+ activist-led group supporting China’s LGBTI+ movement by bringing resources and visibility to the community.

WHO WE ARE

We are a collective consisting activists of different genders and sexual orientations.  Our members are currently located in mainland China, other parts of Asia, and Europe. Our combined expertise includes grant-making, grassroots organizing, research, rights advocacy and awareness-raising on LGBTI+, women’s rights and other intersecting issues. We work in Chinese and English.

MISSION AND VISION

We are an organisation led by LGBTI+ activists inside and outside mainland China. We have a vision of a more just, equal and inclusive China where LGBTI+ live a life with dignity. Our mission is to bring resources to the Chinese LGBTI+ movement and serve as a bridge internationally.

MEDIATE GOAL

Our short-term goal is to find and distribute funding for domestic LGBTI+ organizations and activists. We will develop processes to make sure we are accountable to our communities, in particular responsive to organisers who remain in the mainland.

Supporting Chinese LGBTI+ movement getting through challenging time and continuously empower the community to champion the change.

Secure support to grass-root LGBTI+ activism

Although the civil society space for LGBTI+ activists and organizations is shrinking sharply, grass-root LGBTI+ groups and individual activists are still finding their way to continue their activism: organizing the community event, telling their stories on social media, supporting the community with legal aid and provide psychological support, etc. We are helping these grass-root activism to fund raise internationally and securely bridge the fund to them.

Support queer activists at risks

Activists and community leaders in China are under growingly serious political pressure. They and their family members and colleagues have been regularly questioned, harassed and intimidated so as to stop their activism. Some even have detained, forced disappeared or arrested. They’re suffering serious mental pressure as well. To support these LGBTI+ human rights defenders, we are providing short-term relocation program and well-being program to help these activists under risks to get through these difficulties and recover their energy to continue their activism.

Research and strategy development

Research are conducted to better understand the current situation and needs of the movement and the community. In one way, this helps international community to better understand on what have been happening to the movement. In another way, research report on media, laws and the activism tactics will help to develop new strategies for the movement together with the activists on the ground. 

International advocacy

Aiming to bridging the community and the movement inside China with the international community, we relay the voices from our community to the whole world. Advocate for human rights of the LGBTI+ community within UN mechanism and international platforms is another strategic goal of CRCF.

We are a multidisciplinary group of lawyers, human rights defenders, scholars, and researchers dedicated to exposing the intersectional bias faced by women, trans people, and gender minorities facing extreme sentencing for serious crimes. We utilize advocacy, research, and the production of materials for practical use in our efforts to reveal the depth of this bias, with the goal of effecting systemic change within the criminal legal system. By focusing on the most vulnerable members of the incarcerated population, we believe our approach will gain victories that will be felt throughout the prison industrial complex, to the benefit of all housed within it.

**The Problem**

The issue of gender discrimination in sentencing is deeply urgent and deeply misunderstood. Although women are the fastest growing population of incarcerated people, perceptions that they receive preferential treatment from the criminal legal system abound. In reality, women have suffered the most in the era of mass incarceration, with female incarceration increasing by 700% since 1980, more than double the rate of male incarceration for the same period. For women of color, the punitive nature of our criminal legal system has been disproportionately harsh. Nationally, one of every 39 imprisoned Black women is serving LWOP (life without parole) compared with one out of every 59 imprisoned white women. Women with disabilities, histories of sexual and physical abuse, and lived experiences of poverty face added barriers to justice. Complicating the urgency of these needs is the reality that very few studies have focused on these populations, creating a dearth of knowledge surrounding their needs.
  
The result is a prison system filled with the most vulnerable members of society, whose identities sit at the intersection of multiple forms of marginalization. Most have been victims long before they entered the system as perpetrators, yet were denied assistance and intervention when they needed it most. We believe in uplifting these individuals, because we understand that their lived experiences have the power to shed light on the cruelties and injustices of the criminal legal system. Their stories hold the key to transforming the system by moving it away from retribution and punishment and toward rehabilitation and healing.
 
**Our Approach**

Our work addresses intersectional discrimination from a variety of angles. By publishing groundbreaking research, we shed light on hidden forms of discrimination and disrupt widespread misconceptions about its prevalence. Engaging in advocacy campaigning allows us to inform the public and mobilize new allies for change. These efforts inform our work to produce materials of practical relevance for lawyers, policy-makers, and most importantly, incarcerated people.

Center on Gender and Extreme Sentencing

We provide in-depth, highly relational mindfulness education for youth and the parents and professionals who support them.

Young people deserve our best attention and the greatest support we can offer, especially when it comes to teaching them the tools and resources they need to nurture their minds, spirit, and bodies.

We stand on the foundation of a 35-year lineage of teen mindfulness which began with retreats offered in Barre, Massachusetts in 1989. Since our humble beginnings, we have grown to be the national leader in immersive mindfulness education with our beloved teen retreats having been offered to 4,000+ alumni.

With a belief that justice and equity are at the center of youth wellbeing, our offerings also include specific programs for affinity groups such as BIPOC and LGBTQIA+. Programs aimed at more systemic impact include our internationally accredited Teacher Training program and custom programming in partnership with schools and youth-serving organizations across the country. Our programs seek to complement and amplify the impacts of in-school programs and to expand the value and capacity that youth-serving professionals have for sharing in-depth mindfulness experiences with youth.

At their core, the diverse community of Inward Bound teens and adult leaders seek to create healthier inner and outer worlds. They come from the edges of toxic dominant cultures with the belief that another way of living is not only possible, but a fundamental right. Our extensive network of 120+ staff, teachers, health coordinators, and mentors are experts in the fields of youth development, mental health, and education, and have lived experiences that deeply reflect the teens they serve. They exemplify authenticity, compassion, and respect, upholding a strong code of ethics. In fact, some of our leaders today were participants in the first teen retreats offered in 1989.

Perhaps our most distinctive capacity for success is our Collaborative Leadership (CL) System which emphasizes shared decision-making and robust feedback, and creates more pathways for community members, especially youth, parents, and partners, to have increased input and investment. This organizational structure, which has no Executive Director, is the result of our equity commitments and examinations of how power is distributed within our organization. It was researched and developed for three years with the consult of international leaders in the field before being fully launched in January 2020. At the core of the CL System are the full-time staff and five standing committees that include a 9-member Youth Advisory Committee and 6-member Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee. Need-based stipends are available to support committee member participation.

Inward Bound Mindfulness

Creating community, connection, and support for LGBTQ+ people and allies in central Pennsylvania.

The LGBT Center of Central PA fosters inclusive communities and holistic well-being for LGBTQ+ people through social, educational, and cultural engagement. As the only LGBTQ+ community center in Dauphin County, the LGBT Center is a critical safe space for LGBTQ+ people to access resources and find community, connection, and support. Established in 2006 and based in Harrisburg, the Center serves over 2,000 people yearly across Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Lancaster, and Lebanon Counties.

The Center offers four main social groups for LGBTQ+ people with shared identities and experiences to find community, connection, and support: **Common Roads**, for youth and young adults; **Passageways**, for transgender and nonbinary adults; **Aging With Pride**, for adults over age 50; and **Queer and Trans People of Color (QTPOC) Group**, for young adults of color. 

The Center also provides tangible services for LGBTQ+ people and our community as a whole: **Training & Education** for schools, businesses, healthcare providers, and more on best practices for LGBTQ+ inclusion; a **housing program**, which provides housing and emergency assistance; and **significant resource & referral services** to connect people with other resources beyond what the Center offers to help meet their needs. 

The Center is also part of two key collaborations, extending the Center’s work in partnership with other organizations across our communities. **GLO** is a community resource center serving LGBTQ+ men of color and trans women of color ages 14 to 34. The **LGBT History Project** is an award-winning partnership with Dickinson College that collects, preserves, and shares the stories of LGBT history in Central PA as told by those who lived it.

What we do
HRAPF has five major goals (outcome areas)

1. Sustained access to justice for marginalised persons and key populations
HRAPF champions equality and non-discrimination for marginalised persons and key populations by promoting and facilitating access to justice. A team of lawyers and a network of paralegals is always on standby to respond to emerging cases in order to redress violations that marginalised persons and key populations continue to face. We engage law enforcement agencies on violations of rights of our constituencies and document all violations and initiate interventions that seek to hold perpetrators of these violations accountable. We support the training and facilitation of community paralegals across the country and all our target constituencies to continue providing legal aid services through their structures.

2. Development of knowledge and jurisprudence for the promotion and protection of human rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations
We continue to be a key leader in the generation of knowledge on various dimensions of human rights of marginalised persons and key populations. Having merged some components of access to justice and research and advocacy, HRAPF is set to build a Centre for Law and Marginalisation to champion research and strategic litigation and provide robust legal solutions to violations of rights of marginalised groups and key populations.

3. Inclusive laws and policies promoting and protecting rights and the well-being of marginalised persons and key populations
We speak out and amplify the voices of marginalised persons and KPs in policy and legal development processes as well as challenge discriminatory practices and systemic and institutionalised marginalisation through advocacy and influencing strategies. We create, nurture, and or strengthen partnerships on the one hand with national bodies that are concerned with human rights. Through these partnerships, we will seek to influence the agenda on non-discrimination and equality at district, national, regional (East African and Continental) and international levels.

4. Transformed knowledge, skills and attitudes of marginalised persons and KPs and duty bearers leading to the promotion, respect and protection of the human rights of marginalised persons and Key populations
We consolidate all empowerment and capacity-building efforts through organising and conducting issue-based human rights training workshops and meetings targeting marginalised persons, key populations ((LGBTI persons; sex workers; women, girls and service providers in conflict with abortion laws; drug users; people living with HIV and; refugees) and duty bearers (police officers, media, judicial officers (specifically magistrates), parents, local leaders and health providers as well as state prosecutors and prison warders) to champion non - discrimination and reduce the marginalisation of key populations.

5. Strong and sustainable human rights organisation
HRAPF continues to strengthen its operational efficiency and financial independence buttressed by effective governance, sustainability, prudent risk management, internal development and a clear staffing structure that suits the organisation for sustainability, transparency, accountability, effectiveness and efficiency in delivering on our mandate.

Major Strategies
HRAPF’s five outcome areas are achieved through the following major strategies:

1)	Legal aid service provision: HRAPF facilitates access to justice in respect of violations of the rights of LGBTI persons and other marginalised persons and key Populations and health service providers through legal representation, mobile legal aid camps, alternative dispute resolution/mediation, community paralegals and documenting violations of the rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations.

2)	Advocacy and influencing: HRAPF challenges laws, policies, regulations, guidelines and practices that curtail and violate the rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations and proposes other possibilities. We also advocate for the integration of human rights in policies, laws, operational guidelines, frameworks and regulations and the application of constitutional values and principles and the rights-based approaches in the implementation of services. We do this through dialogues, public education, coalition building, and engaging with national, regional and international human rights spaces and mechanisms.

3)	Building and Strengthening Capacities: Using legal and human rights frameworks, HRAPF develops human rights awareness, promotion and advocacy capacities of CBO’s, NGOs and networks of marginalised persons and Key Populations groups and NGOs working on human rights issues. HRAPF also develops the capacities of duty bearers (including: political leaders, law and policy makers and implementers, law enforcement officers, judicial officers, local councils, families and communities and health service providers), prison warders on the rights of marginalised persons and Key Populations and their duties in the promotion and safeguarding these rights. We build capacities of rights holders, duty bearers, communities and key stakeholders to enable them pursue greater rights for marginalised persons and Key Populations. We do this through: training, tailor-made technical support, internships and mentorship, and legal awareness outreach sessions.

4)	Knowledge Development: HRAPF invests itself in expanding the pool of knowledge and encouraging debate through regularly undertaking legal analyses, simplifying and translating and disseminating knowledge resources such as: laws, policies and bills; position papers; human rights violations reports; research and baselines.

5)	Strategic Litigation: HRAPF challenges laws, practices and actions that violate the rights of marginalised persons and Key populations through the filing of cases before courts of law and tribunals. These are reinforced through research and documentation of human rights thereby enriching jurisprudence for the rights of a marginalised persons and key populations.

6)	Partnership Development: Nurturing and participating in strategic partnerships at the national, sub-regional, Pan African and global levels for the strengthening of the rights-based approaches and utilisation of legal and human rights mechanisms. This we do through coalitions and alliances, lobby meetings, engaging at regional and international human rights mechanisms and strategic interest litigation at national, EAC sub-regional and Pan-African regional levels.

7)	Programme Support: Building a sustainable organization that operates in an effective, efficient, professional and accountable manner. This we do through: prudent corporate governance; attracting and retaining a competent staff team; robust monitoring, evaluation and learning; resource mobilisation and risk management.

we.are.village in Berlin is creating new ways that queer communities can connect, transform and heal. For the last eight years, we have operated a unique space for queer masculinities and femininities, transgender, non-binary, genderfluid, intersex and other gender non-conforming people.


Our goal is to help queer people create and embrace healthier, better connected and purposeful lives. We do this by nourishing individual and collective growth through working with the body, mindfulness, artistic expression, consent and a range of self-empowering tools and strategies. In the process, we tackle loneliness, lack of self-esteem, intimacy and addiction issues, dealing with discrimination and other intersectional challenges that limit and impact queer lives.


We have created a diverse and continuously adapting program of weekly and monthly events, community evenings, weekend trips as well as art exhibitions, performances, salon discussions and offerings via our online platform.


Although it was never our focus, we  have become a model for other cities and countries. We regularly host visitors and participants from all over the world and have seen an increase in international interest from individuals, other organizations, activists, artists, politicians or other practitioners wanting to find out more about our innovative model and methodologies.

Grantmakers for Girls of Color (G4GC) is the primary national philanthropic intermediary exclusively committed to resourcing organizations and movements that center girls, femmes, and gender-expansive youth of Color. Since 2020, we have raised and awarded grants to 385 organizations in all fifty states, Guam, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.







Building from the operational intention to resource movements working to elevate justice for girls and femmes of color ages 25 and under in the U.S. and beyond, G4GC leads with the notion of understanding philanthropy through a lens of reciprocity, intersectionality, and cultural responsiveness. With an infrastructure that reflects our values, a culture of partnership, healing, reciprocity, and love.

The four signature initiatives include: 

Love is Healing Fund: Launched in 2020 to provide grants to organizations directly supporting girls of color in the wake of multiple pandemics, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding priorities include: preventative or responsive health strategies ; interventions to support institutionalized girls of color and survivors of gender-based violence; economic and educational response strategies explicitly focused on girls of color; multigenerational immigrant justice organizing, and power building through organizing, participatory research and advocacy to amplify the needs and experiences of girls of Color and their communities. This fund also resources strategies to protect the security of youth organizers working to dismantle systems of oppression.

Black Girl Freedom Fund & #1Billion4BlackGirls campaign: Launched via an open letter in Essence magazine, the #1Billion4BlackGirls campaign is a ten-year philanthropic initiative to invest $1 Billion in the braintrust, innovation, artistic vision, health, safety, education, research, and joy of all Black girls and their families. Each year, a different theme is chosen by the co-founders, and a group of Black Girls, femmes, and gender-expansive youth ages 12-25 are recruited into a paid 8-week participatory grantmaking process. The articulation of priorities for the fund, Black girls are not just “recipients” of resources, G4GC’s Black Girl Freedom Fund provides a platform for the development of transferable skills that will increase their capacity to stake claim in their own liberation. 

New Songs Rising Initiative: In partnership with Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous People’s Thriving Women’s Program, this initiative expands opportunities for Indigenous girls through grantmaking, convening, and community building, and mentorship and peer support through an upcoming fellowship program. Specific emphasis on Indigenous cultural work. Funding priorities include: multi-generational healing and organizing amongst Indigenous girls and women; advancing the capacity of Indigenous girls and women to resist state and colonial violence and gender-based violence particularly impacting Indigenous girls and women; art, music, and poetry to advance healing, safety, visibility, and movement-building for Indigenous girls and women. 

Holding a Sister Initiative:  Launched in the fall of 2021 and in partnership with the Black Trans Fund, this initiative centers what we call “new world-building” work led by trans and gender-expansive youth of Color. To date, this initiative has accounted for more $1.8 million in giving to trans communities, exceeding the average giving to trans communities among most national philanthropic institutions.

Q Center is a 501c3 non-profit organization which offers multi-generational, multi-racial programs and services in four core areas: Arts & Culture; Education & Training; Health & Wellness and Advocacy.  There are dozens of events and groups that meet here, some focused on specific topics (like coming out or gender identity) and others aimed at fun social interactions (like sing-along piano cabarets or craft nights).  Entry to most of these is sliding-scale and run by dedicated volunteers, keeping Q Center truly community-driven and accessible.  In addition to our programmatic offerings, our 5,000 sq/ft facility is also a safe and friendly place to spend an afternoon.
