Established in 1979 as Child Relief and You, now Child Rights and You, CRY was started by Rippan Kapur who dreamt of ensuring happier childhoods for India’s children. In just over 4 decades, CRY has been able to create a positive impact on the lives of over 4 million children in the age group of 0-18 years, with having presence in 19 states.
Working with some of the most marginalized and vulnerable children, within their communities and their family structures - CRY aims to address the root causes of why children are kept away from their basic rights and to find solutions that are sustainable.
The broad areas of CRY's work include:
Health and Nutrition
- CRY works to ensure that children get access to proper healthcare and facilities.
Education
- The project team not only works with children and their families to help them understand the crucial role education plays in breaking out of the circle of poverty but also works to activate schools and strengthen existing ones.
Protection
- This is one of the other areas that CRY takes on across its programmatic areas and this work is centered around child labour, child marriage, trafficking, and ensuring children are not exploited and vulnerable.
Participation
- CRY also works towards providing children with a platform where they can voice their concerns and issues and support each other.

Brighter Futures: Donate today for Children's Education!
Education is the basic need for a better future. However, 46 million children, between 6-18 years of age, do not go to school. Many of them drop out of school and the reasons range from lack of adequate facilities in schools including no proper, toilets, drinking water etc. to teachers not attending school regularly or even the basic lack of awareness on the necessity of education. CRY works with communities to not only connect children to school but also ensure they are retained in school and can complete their education. Thus paving the way for a brighter future. CRY works with children’s families on one hand and with school authorities on the other to ensure that children get access to the education they rightfully deserve. CRY not only works towards improving infrastructure in schools but also works to change mindsets and attitudes about education. CRY is dedicated to empowering children and creating a brighter future for them through quality education. We create sustainable change for India’s children by educating parents, teachers communities, and children themselves to change behaviours and practices at the grassroots level while collaborating with the government to influence public policy at a systemic level. As one of the most trusted NGOs working for education in India, our education programs align with the guidelines set forth by the Right to Education Act (2009) and the National Education Policy 2020. Every time you donate for child education, you give children a chance at a brighter future. Make an education donation today.

Donate today to help girls complete their education!
Did you know that if every girl in India completes her education and enters the workforce, it could boost our GDP by $770 billion by 2025? Powerful, isn’t it? But the harsh reality is that only 3 out of 5 girls in India make it to higher secondary education (GER, UDISE 2021-22). Challenges like societal norms, child marriage, and poor school infrastructure are major roadblocks compel many girls to drop out, halt their education, and, frequently, marry early.
It's time to address these issues and help every girl stay in school. We at Child Rights and You (CRY), with our latest campaign Poori Padhai Desh ki Bhalai, are dedicated to empowering girls to complete their higher secondary education. We promote and support girls through four key focus areas: 1. Awareness and Enrolment Drives
House-to-house visits and community outreach ensure every girl's enrolment status is tracked and addressed through multiple rounds.
2. Fight against Child marriage and Labour
Raising awareness among the community and changing mindsets about the harmful effects of child marriage and child labour.
3. Inform about government schemes
Providing families with information on government schemes and benefits and connecting girls to flexible learning options through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS).
4. Empower girls through collectives
Supporting girls through groups that build confidence and foster agency, with role models sharing success stories to inspire and encourage younger girls. CRY aims to enrol 73000 girls and give them a chance to complete their higher secondary education. Come, join us in this initiative of helping create a better, more equitable future for underprivileged girls by donating today. Kyunki unki poori padhai mein hi hai desh ki bhalai!
