Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area have been serving youth ages 6-18 for more than 60 years. Today, we operate six club sites in Florence, Hartsville, Hemingway, Lake City, Pamplico, and Timmonsville with more than 700 kids passing through our doors each day.
Our mission is to inspire and enable all youth, from throughout the Pee Dee area, especially those that need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Clubs fill the gap between school and home with a welcoming, positive environment in which kids and teens have fun, participate in life-changing programs, and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults. Using a nationally recognized, evidence-based programming, our priority outcomes include
- Academic Success: Graduating from high school ready for college, trade school, military, or employment
- Good Character & Leadership: Being an engaged citizen involved in the community, registered to vote, and modeling good character
- Healthy Lifestyles: Adopting a healthy diet, practicing healthy lifestyle choices, and making a lifelong commitment to fitness.
In every community, boys and girls are left to find their own recreation and companionship in the streets. An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.
Boys & Girls Clubs offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.
Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. We truly are “The Positive Place For Kids.”
The purpose of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Pee Dee Area is to promote the social, educational, health, leadership, and character development of boys and girls during critical periods of their growth. This includes tutoring and academic assistance and instilling the importance of learning.
Boys & Girls Clubs provides a safe place to learn and grow; ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals; life-enhancing programs and character development experiences; and hope and opportunity.
