INFORMATION ABOUT ARTI, THE APPLICANT ORGANISATION
THE YEAR AND REASON OF FOUNDATION
Association for Rural and Tribal Improvement (ARTI) was founded in 1990 by like-minded individuals from the service area villages and registered under the Tamilnadu Government’s Societies’ Registration Act.
Lack of awareness, poor literacy status especially of women, fatalistic attitude, lack of initiative and efforts to effect changes etc. were some of the reasons for founding the organization.
ORGANIZATION'S OBJECTIVES
Development of the downtrodden and weaker sections of society in all aspects of life;
Creation of empowered communities that could make rational decisions and are not dependent on others;
ARTI understands development as, “the ability of people to decide for themselves as individuals, groups and communities.”
Raising the image and status of women on par with men.
CORE VALUES
Utmost regard for human rights
Earnest faith in the wisdom of people irrespective of their educational, social, and economic status
Firm conviction that women are born equal to men
THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE & PROCESS OF DECISION-MAKING
The General Body is the governing body of ARTI. It elects the members of the executive body and the office-bearers consist of the President, Vice-president, Treasurer, and secretary.
Policy decisions are taken only in the meetings of the general body. Day-to-day administration is the responsibility of the office-bearers and they consult the executive body in making decisions.
