1 Girl Revolution is an Emmy-nominated nonprofit multimedia organization that has spent nearly a decade proving, one story at a time, that everyday women and girls carry the value, resilience, and vision to change the world.
Why now: Depression diagnoses among women have climbed from 26% to nearly 37% since 2017 (Gallup), and teen girls have seen a 60% surge in depression symptoms over the past decade (CDC). More than half of high school girls report persistent sadness or hopelessness, and women's suicide rates have risen over 40% since 2002 - climbing fastest among girls and young women. At the same time, media coverage of women keeps getting more divisive, rewarding outrage and controversy over substance. A famous actress once told our founder, Kate, to her face: "One woman can't be a revolution." That belief - that one woman can't change the world - is exactly what our culture teaches women every day, and exactly what 1 Girl Revolution exists to disprove.
What we've built: 300+ episodes of The 1 Girl Revolution Podcast, distributed on every major platform. Two award-winning documentaries, including the Emmy-nominated "The Girl Inside" and "In Tandem." National media coverage on Good Morning America, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and more. The Power of Her, our flagship live event now in its second year, plus a traveling gallery exhibit spotlighting world-changing women. A monthly volunteer program and weekly storytelling series. And nearly eight years of operation, built almost entirely on small individual donors and private grants - with zero government funding.
Where we're headed: We're transitioning our podcast to video, entering pre-production on our next upcoming documentary, and building toward becoming a leading, disruptive voice in women's media.
Your donation directly funds this next chapter - supporting staff and capacity building, new documentaries and original content, audience growth, and our video podcast production - so we can reach more women with the message they urgently need to hear: their story matters, and they have the power to change the world.
