WDDC's mission is to transform the lives of unhoused and at-risk women and their families by creating a bridge to safe, secure permanent housing and self-sufficiency. WDDC provides a vital link to resources that unhoused women and children need to make that transition.

We are a vibrant community resource center offering weekday housing support services & case management and hospitality services including providing hot meals, groceries, hygiene products, and other essential items. Over 30 volunteers support our clients each week at the service window. With over 37 years and positive word-of-mouth by our clients, WDDC is often a first point of contact for women and families facing homelessness.

As a North County Family Housing Resource Center, we can assess clients' qualifications for housing eligibility and do housing assessments for those that meet Alameda County’s criteria for housing.

Our Bridget House transitional program operates in a house in Berkeley where 5 formerly homeless women and their children live from 6 months - 2 years where they work with our counselors on defining their goals and developing life skills on their path to self-sufficiency.   We are proud that 85 of our families have graduated into permanent housing since 2004.

Our Housing services include:

  • Housing and community resource referrals
  • Tenancy problem solving
  • Case management services for qualified families - reflecting the goals of each household
  • We have placed over 50 clients in supportive housing over the last 12 months

Support women and children in East Bay shelters

We are 8th grade students from Lincoln Middle School focusing on our Civic Action project. We decided to help our community by raising funds for the Women's Daytime Drop-In Center in Berkeley. Since 1987, the WDDC has provided a safe space, warm meals, counseling, and support to any homeless woman and her children during the day, when other shelters are closed. They help an average of 400 families monthly and get over 5,500 visits to their center in one year! They constantly need resources, so we want to support them by raising money towards their organization. Your donation will go directly to the shelter, providing them with the funds they need to support their East Bay residents. We chose to use Every.org for our fundraiser because your donation will be 100% tax-deductible and it will help us track the success of this fundraiser! We believe every woman and child deserves the resources they need to survive, such as food, clothes, hygiene products, etc. If you are able to donate $10-$20, it will support their shelter, so donate now to help our East Bay community!
