Wellness Within

Wellness Within Cancer Support Services exists to ensure that no one in our community faces a cancer diagnosis alone. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for those affected by cancer by providing evidence-informed, no-cost wellness programming designed to improve mental, emotional, and behavioral health – because a diagnosis affects the whole person, not just the body.

Cancer remains a significant public health concern across our region. Age-adjusted incidence rates for all cancers are substantial relative to state benchmarks, underscoring the ongoing community need for supportive services that go beyond clinical care. Community health assessments consistently identify cancer as a priority health issue requiring action to support residents' quality of life and disease coping capacities. Wellness Within answers that call.

Who We Serve

We serve individuals and families navigating every stage of a cancer journey – from the shock of a new diagnosis through active treatment, into survivorship, and beyond. Our clients include people in active treatment, long-term survivors managing the lasting effects of cancer, and the family members and caregivers who show up every day for someone they love. Cancer does not discriminate, and neither do we. Our services are available regardless of cancer type, stage, income, or insurance status. For many of those we serve, the fact that everything we offer is entirely free is not a convenience – it is the difference between receiving support and going without.

What We Do

Wellness Within bridges the gap between clinical care and community-based wellness by addressing the often unmet psychosocial needs of cancer survivors and their caregivers. We offer a wide range of evidence-informed programming, all at no cost:

Support Groups: Facilitated peer groups for patients, survivors, and caregivers create a space to share experiences, find solidarity, and reduce the profound isolation that so often accompanies a diagnosis. Hearing "I know exactly how you feel" from someone who truly does is a form of medicine no prescription can provide.

Expressive Arts: Art therapy, creative writing, and other expressive modalities help individuals process emotions in non-verbal ways, rediscover joy, and reclaim a sense of identity beyond their diagnosis.

Mind-Body Wellness: Gentle yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and movement classes adapted for people in treatment or recovery support physical comfort, reduce anxiety, and restore a sense of connection to one's own body.
