We envision a world where ALK+ lung cancer is a chronic or even curable condition and the next person diagnosed with lung cancer does not have to live under the current stigma.

**Our Start**

\#SweatForBreath started as a grassroots fundraising campaign during Lung Cancer Awareness Month in 2023. After being diagnosed with Stage IV ALK+ lung cancer in November 2022, David Cornbrooks became keenly aware that he was benefiting from the selfless fundraising and awareness efforts of the patients before him.

The \#SweatForBreath campaign in 2023 became David, and his wife, Lisa’s, way to help the next generation ALK+ lung cancer patients.

\#SweatForBreath accelerated beyond more than just a typical fundraiser.  The initiative quickly evolved into a community of patients, caregivers, family, and friends seeking to make David and Lisa's vision a reality and the road to that vision more tolerable. People donated, sweat at the in-person cycle event, posted on social media, and helped fundraise through organizing group walks, selling art, "gifting" donations on behalf of clients, and much more.

Their success in 2023 compelled David and Lisa to officially transition the \#SweatForBreath campaign into the Sweat For Breath Foundation, operating through a fiscal sponsorship with Players Philanthropy Fund, a Maryland charitable trust recognized by IRS as a tax-exempt public charity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (Federal Tax ID: 27-6601178).

**Our Impact**

Since 2023, over **1,450 donors** have given nearly **$400,000** to the Foundation (or its predecessor campaign). 100% of the proceeds have gone directly to The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Center in Baltimore, MD to support Dr. Vincent Lam’s ALK+ lung cancer research.

This support provided the critical funding needed to launch Dr. Lam’s clinic trial, which will evaluate the safety of a cancer peptide vaccine to prevent or delay acquired resistance in advanced ALK+ lung cancer patients currently on ALK targeted therapy. Dr. Lam’s vaccine is the **first ALK+ vaccine in the world** to be tested in a clinical trial. Dr. Lam administered the vaccine to the first patient **in clinic on May 13, 2024**!

Every year, approximately 76,000 children in India may develop cancer, with 58% of them being severely malnourished at the time of diagnosis. For these children, nutrition can mean the difference between life and death. Every child deserves a chance at a cure, and we are here to make that happen.

At Cuddles Foundation, we partner with over 40 government and charity cancer hospitals to support children through our FoodHeals program. Our mission is to ensure that children undergoing cancer therapy receive comprehensive nutritional support. This includes access to trained clinical pediatric nutritionists, expert dietary counsel, supplements, hot meals, monthly ration baskets, and caregiver support. Good food helps the medicine work!

This multi-pronged approach tackles a simple but often ignored aspect of a child’s successful recovery from cancer. While undergoing treatment, it is essential that children have freshly prepared, nutritious food in sufficient quantity and don't stay hungry for long periods. The impact of our work is evident. When part of the FoodHeals Program, 82%* of patients improved or maintained their nutritional status, despite cancer therapy like chemotherapy or radiation.

Additionally, 96% of children followed up* on their treatment plan when nutrition was a part of it, demonstrating the program’s effectiveness. Besides the love and affection of our patients, their families, and our supporters, we’ve won some prestigious awards along the way. This includes the National Award for Child Welfare (2015-16), the Akshaya Patra and UN Global Compact Award (2018) and most recently we received the Global CSR & ESG Awards 2024 - Top 10 Best NGOs of the Year (2024).

ConnectMyVariant's mission is to end hereditary disease by bringing families together.

ConnectMyVariant is an educational health-focused 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that supports individuals and families with hereditary disease in their early detection and prevention efforts. We provide unique value by leveraging our evidenced-based family connection protocols to help people identify other at-risk relatives and help those relatives access genetic testing so that they can get optimal medical care. ConnectMyVariant brings people with the same genetic risk together through our variant database and community engagement events to share experiences and find common ancestors. ConnectMyVariant also works to increase awareness of the benefits of family outreach among physicians, others who provide prevention care, and the broader genealogy community.
 
Our key activities are:

Need and Impact:
When hereditary disease risk is known, family outreach has been proven to be the most effective and cost-effective intervention for early detection and prevention. This family outreach, also known as cascade testing, is recommended by multiple guidelines. Despite overwhelming evidence, family outreach assistance is not reimbursed by insurance or integrated into healthcare. Many people suffer and die from hereditary disease that could have been prevented or caught early.
 
We have shown that our strategies to encourage family outreach can act as a communication multiplier. Our pilot research at the University of Washington showed that this approach enhanced patient experience, was considered ethical, and was appreciated by newly identified relatives. Our approach is low-cost and is 25 to 50 times more effective than awareness and education interventions that target the general population.

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

To help and support paediatric oncology in Zimbabwe.

KidzCan is the only organisation in Zimbabwe dedicated to increasing the survival rate of children suffering from cancer and blood-related disorders.
The organisation was formally registered as a Private Voluntary Organisation (PVO) in 2009. It was directly evolved in volunteer work for over 15 years prior to that. 
A group of concerned volunteers initiated weekly visits to the children's wards of Parirenyatwa Hospital to play with the children and distribute some donated toys, sweets, or basic luxuries to the admitted children. 
In 1998 Andrea Whatman took over the coordination of this small volunteer group, a position she held until April 2014. 
In 2002, Dr. Orphard Mupanemunda (the only paediatric oncologist in Zimbabwe by then) and Andrea received a fully funded fellowship to St Judes Children's Hospital in Memphis, USA. 
On their return, Dr. Mupanamunda and Andrea committed to forming an organisation called Children's Cancer Relief, which to this day is now known as KidzCan Zimbabwe.
KidzCan supports Mpilo Hospital in Bulawayo(second largest city), Sekuru Kaguvi Eye Hospital, Sally Mugabe Hospital, and Parirenyatwa Hospital, which is the centre of excellence on childhood cancer.
From the days of only providing psycho-social services the basket of services is now full with others like the provision of chemotherapy drugs, bereavement assistance, CT and MRI scans and bereavement allowances. The institution also sources, and provides prosthetics, admission, discharge packs, and nutritional support in the form of food hampers as good nutrition is at the centre of treatment.
The organisation conducts awareness campaigns in schools, workspaces and the community, and individuals plus group counselling to children, parents, and caregivers. 
KidzCan has now introduced housing to the portfolio of services available, through the Rainbow Children’s Village (RCV), which basically is a halfway house for children and caregivers, who often come from remote areas, making it difficult for them to fulfil their appointments with doctors. 
KidzCan provides these services free of charge to childhood cancer patients who come through the public health system. 
The organisation serves up to 800 patients annually, of which new cases are around 350. 
With Leukaemia (blood cancer), Wilms Tumour (kidney cancer) and retinoblastoma (eye cancer) being the most prevalent, the cancers come in many different forms. 
All the services are provided free of charge.
KidzCan envisions a compassionate world where children who suffer from cancer and their families are given the chance to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

CANCER SCREENINGS (Stats 2020/21)
• Over 54 210 conducted in total (with abnormalities referred accordingly).
• Conducted over 6 260 pap smears and facilitated 2 989 in partnership with the Department of Health (DoH).
• Carried out more than 20 570 clinical breast examinations.
• 8 848 Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) tests completed and 351 done in partnership with DoH.
• Over 3 010 skin examinations using the FotoFinder Mole Analysis device took place.
• Expanded workplace screening and wellness programmes.


HEALTH SCREENING, EDUCATION AND AWARENESS (Stats 2020/21)
• Approximately 40 727 individual information and education sessions conducted with screenings.
• Over 7 560 people assessed to determine their lifestyle risk, with 2 361 glucose tests performed for diabetes.
• More than 465 900 people reached through 1 738 talks and 4 531 exhibitions with the help of 795 health promotion volunteers.
• Over 150 radio talks hosted for cancer education.
• Distributed over 71 110 information leaflets to promote health awareness campaigns.

CURRENT PLANS AND THE FUTURE
CANSA’s service and income generation is managed and deployed centrally with national teams, placed across the country. We streamline and modernise our service and fundraising efforts regularly. We have CANSA Care Centres around the country with certain CANSA Care Centres operating as ‘Virtual CANSA Care Centres’ where employees work remotely to offer services within their surrounding communities assisted by willing volunteers.


Our country’s economic recovery post COVID-19 will take a few years. The need for our normal services continues and even more patients and caregivers need help. We are aware of our duty to continue to educate South Africa about the cancer burden and find innovative ways to help lower the cancer risk, while providing support and care to the communities we serve.

ECF’s goal is to help families navigate the complicated world of cancer, preserve their emotional well-being, and relieve their day-to-day burdens. A social initiative of Udhavum Ullangal Public Charitable Trust, poised to transform the landscape of cancer care in Tamil Nadu.

We are 24yr old charitable trust, in Chennai, working in the areas of cancer care, women empowerment and education. We channel the goodwill of communities and bring hope to people in need.

Since 2011 our Nellai Cancer Care Centre in Tirunelveli has been offering comprehensive cancer care services to underprivileged people. **We have so far raised awareness for over 200k+ people, screened more than 60k+ individuals, conducted over 2800 cancer camps, treated over 1500 patients, and currently provide home-based mobile palliative care services to over 300 patients**. All our initiatives align with the **WHO framework** for cancer care and **SDG Goal 3** for health and wellbeing.

We are now working towards establishing our very own cancer speciality hospital to bridge the growing access-affordability gap in cancer care in Tirunelveli.

Our **[Nellai Cancer Hospital](http://www.nellaicancerhospital.org/)** - a 70-bed facility - will be situated on [a 5.35-acre lush landscape in Sengulam](https://youtu.be/Ij3ErArnajw?si=Gkau13HtITZ3k9Bl) to serve 2 million across the region, spanning several districts.  Equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostics and inpatient care, it is poised to deliver high-quality and holistic cancer care services to patients.

The entire project is being **guided by the Cancer Institute (WIA)** in Adyar, Chennai and several eminent advisors across industries.

So far we have

1. Acquired 5.35 acres of land for the hospital, generously donated to us.
2. Developed a comprehensive architectural plan for a 70-bed hospital, with the initial phase 1 covering approximately 29,000 sq. ft. 
3. Secured the necessary approvals to construct up to 40,000 sq. ft. at the site.

5. Began construction in May 2024

Dragon Master Initiative's mission is to find and accelerate cures for cancers and other rare diseases by fostering and rewarding a community of collaboration and innovation. We support big data initiatives, like Cavatica.org, to democratize access to research data. We are partnered with Amazon Web Services and the Children's Brain Tumor Network on the D.A.V.I.D. Hoop For All is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that uses sports to create health awareness and financially aid patients during treatment.

Our five health focuses are cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, mental health, and HIV/aids. We create awareness by executing sporting events that provide resources on prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Our events also serve as a platform to financially aid affected patients during the treatment and recovery process. Dedicated to the care and management of people with progressive incurable diseases, since 1998.

DEAN Foundation has a 26-year history of being the premier provider of Hospice and Palliative Care services in the community, free of charge to the economically weaker sections of society. They treat those with serious, life-threatening, chronic, progressive and incurable diseases with an emphasis on the elderly, the poor and the marginalized. Through their Outpatient and Home Care services they offer medical care, emotional and spiritual support, tailored to the patients' wishes to remain at home.

*Since inception in 1998, our teams of doctors and nurses have reached out to 19,022 patients (Adults, Children & the Elderly) as on 31 July 2024 through 81,244 Outpatient Services and 72,577 Home Care visits; 14,965 have been Cancer patients. In our Paediatric Palliative Care Project, we have treated 3,737 children between the ages 0 to 12 years of whom 2,398 have been afflicted by Cancer. Currently, approx. 1002 patients are under our care.  About 85% of our patients are from very low socioeconomic backgrounds; unable to cope with the negative impacts of adverse health events, and approx. 50% are geriatric patients.*

Banco de Tapitas began as a movement of young Mexicans, students and professionals, with the intention of Supporting the Fight Against Childhood Cancer through Recycling.  Banco de Tapitas seeks to provide comprehensive support to more than 1,000 children and young people in Mexico who have been diagnosed with cancer through recycling campaigns nationwide. Under the motto "If life gives you caps, don't throw them away!", in April 2016 we launched our first campaign on Facebook, which reached more than 2.5 million views worldwide, this being the moment to promotion of this project. Throughout its history, Banco de Tapitas has managed to serve more than 1,000 patients directly and just over 2,200 indirectly through its allies, achieving recognition from the Ministry of Well-being and the Líderes del Bajío program in the social sector.  The goal for this year is to deliver more than 6 million pesos in support to our patients financed by recycling programs, deliver more than 200 oncological wigs, operate 4 shelters and deliver 1 state-of-the-art device to hospitals and oncological areas most in need in our country. We will also begin formal operations in the United States.

At Noora Health, we believe no human being should suffer because of a preventable medical condition.

Noora Health is focused on improving patient outcomes in public health systems in India, Bangladesh, and Indonesia by training the family caregivers of patients admitted to government hospitals - making them an integral part of healthcare delivery. They develop high quality training and education materials (videos, flipcharts etc) delivered through a train the trainer model for healthcare professionals to use in-hospital to upskill and train the family and patient. They also have a post-discharge follow-up on mobile (via WhatsApp, teletraining, and voice messages) that allows them to share content with families when they return home, be there in a moment of need, answer questions etc. 

They have seen remarkable outcomes – in a cohort of patients, the program reduced post-surgical cardiac complications by 71%, maternal complications by 12%, newborn complications by 16%, newborn readmissions by 56%, and newborn mortality by 18%.

**Nearly 90,000 Adolescent and Young Adults (AYAs) ages 15-39 are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States, and this number continues to increase.** 

Additionally, there are over 633K AYA survivors currently living in the US. AYAs are the most underserved population by age, and it is well documented that they often fall through the gaps in the healthcare system. Social support is vital to their quality of life and health outcomes. Yet, supporters in this age group often lack the life experience to stay connected and supportive, leaving the patient to endure this difficult time feeling isolated and alone.

b-present Foundation is a San Diego-based nonprofit established following the devastating loss of 20-year-old [Kirsten](https://b-present.org/kirstens-story/) to cancer in 2016. We improve the quality of life and health outcomes of adolescents and young adults with cancer nationwide through programs that promote and strengthen connections between young adults and their communities of support.

b-present actively engages with the national AYA community of survivors, supporters, health professionals, researchers, and nonprofits. b-present partners with researchers to study the barriers to social support, lead monthly meetings with western hospital AYA coordinators, lead focus groups to get program feedback, and host annual community workshops to discuss support gaps. These collaborative relationships allow the diverse needs of the AYA population to stay top of mind and shape future program innovations, interventions, and strategies to improve support.

Our goal is to help every individual see the important role they can play in the social support network and how they have the power to reduce social isolation and improve health outcomes by being present when they are needed most.

In Korea, about four children are diagnosed with cancer every day, and approximately 12,000 children receive treatment for cancer each year. A child’s sudden illness can place a family in financial hardship and lead to various psychological and social challenges, as treatment often requires an extended period. Fortunately, unlike what we see in movies or TV dramas, childhood cancer is no longer an incurable illness. With advancements in medical treatment, 80% of children with cancer are completely cured and can lead healthy lives if they receive proper care.

The Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation is committed to providing social services for children with cancer so that they can receive the medical treatment they need and return to society in good health. To ensure that no child discontinues treatment due to financial difficulties, we provide financial support for treatment costs. Additionally, we offer a range of professional support services beyond psychological therapy to help children and their families return to a healthy life after treatment. ANRF is a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit organization advancing health equity with comprehensive programs to prevent the harmful effects of secondhand smoke and smoking among youth and adults. 40 years of experience promoting prevention and education about smoking, secondhand smoke, and exposing tobacco industry interference with public health policies. Our goals include educating the public about the health effects of secondhand smoke and the benefits of smokefree environments. Ultimately, our efforts are intended to create a smokefree generation in America that rejects tobacco use and is savvy to tobacco industry tactics. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas & North Louisiana provides support and hope to families who have a hospitalized child at Arkansas Children’s, Baptist Health, or the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).  At Ronald McDonald House and the Ronald McDonald Family Room families find a free place to stay that include meals and snacks, indoor and outdoor play spaces, laundry, and other daily essentials.  Most importantly families receive 24/7 support from compassionate staff and volunteers who understand the nightmare that it is to have a baby or child in the hospital.

Abby's Joy is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit created to assist families battling DIPG and partner with organizations that do the same. 

At Abby's Joy, our primary focus is our families. DIPG is a devastating diagnosis that statistically has 0% survival rate, although there are some patients defying these numbers. Our organization was born out of the pain and tragedy of DIPG taking our youngest daughter, Abigail Lynn Bramlett (Forever 6), from us on June 25, 2019 after battling this beast for a year. Our pain has been turned into purpose assuring parents, family members, and friends have the right tools and support to walk this challenging road with just a bit of relief. That relief could come in the form of not having to worry about a bill being paid, or having to take off from work to be with your child because they are literally fighting to live. This relief could look like helping to make a dream come true or ease the burden of end of life expenses. We are also available for one on one conversations to talk out any and all of the "it's not fair, scary, this shouldn't be happening" thoughts that inevitably enter the minds of anyone associated with a DIPG diagnosis. We have very lofty goals for this foundation including our website that is an ever evolving entity with newest possible treatments from all over the world, comfort and support measures, step by step instructions/suggestions for different steps of this journey and a place to listen to those of us who have walked this road. We come to the aid of DIPG families selected by our Board of Directors in the form of monthly grants.  We are working on information packets to be distributed throughout hospitals for new DIPG families, One goal is to provide connection and distraction for both patients and families through advance communication technology (this is a work in progress). We are working on a YouTube channel that will hold inspirational content or just a place to hear "You're not alone".  All of our board members and staff are strictly volunteers. Aurora is a charitable organization that provides free accommodation and counseling to low-income leukemia/lymphoma patients, the most advanced equipment to hospitals, and research grants looking for a cure for malignant blood diseases. Our mission is to make leukemia and other hematological diseases 100% curable. Until that is realized, AURORA aims to improve care for patients, offer support to their families, increase the patient survival rate, support specialized medical centers with equipment and novel treatments in Greece and beyond, and promote the development of research in the field of oncohematology by bringing good people and good ideas together. Our goal, in short, is to help patients and families through this difficult and traumatic time, and to fight this disease in a meaningful way.
