The borderless Museum for the United Nations – UN Live (hereafter UN Live) was created to rally the many around the work and values of the UN, and to unleash the power of culture to drive positive, global action.

UN Live’s core approach is to drive change through the untapped power of popular culture. From behavior change science, we know that popular culture - film, gaming, music, sports and beyond – has the power to change mindsets, norms and behaviours in a strong and long-lasting way. We bring the issues of the UN to where people are – and engage with them on their own screens, on their stadiums, or in their ears as they stream music by their favorite artists.

By partnering with big cultural players and platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, IKEA, Google Arts and Culture and others, we can reach millions of people every day – and drive change at pace and at scale. Through this, we create the public demand for decision-makers and business leaders to drive just and sustainable products and policies.

In a fractured world, we seek to build more empathy, agency and a new sense of global belonging – what we call a ‘Global We’. We create direct, designed dialogues focused on bringing unheard voices to the forefront of the decision-making – and to build relatable stories, driving action and change.

UN Live is a frontrunner in both driving agency and empathy globally giving us a unique edge and voice in the global sustainability and justice community.

UN Live carries the brand of the United Nations but operates outside the traditional UN system. This provides credibility and foundation necessary to attract and engage a wide network of global partners, while keeping an agile and innovative approach to develop programmes.

UN Live’s most recent programmes include:

  • Sounds Right – A music movement to recognise the value of nature

Sounds Right is a music movement inspiring millions to take action. By simply listening to a Sounds Right track on popular streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music, fans will directly channel royalties to high impact conservation initiatives. This starts a broader movement prompting additional action, fostering a sense of collective agency for environmental stewardship and igniting a new era of change.
  • DOPE – An entertainment show to engage millions in climate action

DOPE leverages popular culture and local engagement to build a climate and biodiversity movement, with a key focus on including underrepresented voices. By developing a pop culture climate and biodiversity entertainment show, we aim to develop widespread engagement, an appetite for climate action and behavior change for the many people in India.
