American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC)® is the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude.

Impact

Because most funding comes from ALSAC and generous supporters, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.

Since opening in 1962, St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to more than 80% in the United States. St. Jude won’t stop its work until no child dies from cancer.

St. Jude shares its research discoveries, so every child saved at St. Jude helps doctors and scientists save many more around the world.

What Makes St. Jude Different?

As a globally recognized leader in pediatric oncology, St. Jude has several designations that differentiate its work:

• St. Jude is the first and only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children. 
• St. Jude is home to the world’s first proton therapy center just for children.
• In 2003, St. Jude became the nation’s first pediatric cancer research center to open a Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) facility to produce vaccines, proteins, gene-based molecules and other biopharmaceuticals.
