Shift IT

Shift IT took over work started by its parent company Source IT in order to be a transparent not for profit vehicle to help bridge the digital divide in Malawi. The goal has been to bring new and emerging low cost technologies into Malawi, to help address key issues such as a lack of resources and access to information. Almost every year Malawi gets hit by a cyclone but no one expected the devastation that Cyclone Freddy has delivered. We at Shift IT have joined the local coalition of NGO's NFP's and other partners of SFF to support boots on the ground and make sure that relief gets to the right people who need it. Too many times have we seen large funding being generated for cyclone relief and disaster management but we still see so many suffer because the relief has not reached them in the way the affected people need it. Due to our relationship with Salesforce and Segal Family Foundation we seek to intervene immediately and ensure that communities get the support they need in order to rebuild their lives, homes and well being. In the long term we would also like to help rebuild schools or community centres engineered to survive the Freddy's of the future and invest in pre storm warning and education systems.
