Save the Kiwi is New Zealand’s national conservation trust that works to save the kiwi – it’s in the name, after all! We work with iwi (indigenous Māori tribal groups), community groups, organizations, private landowners, and generous donors to help create safer habitat and rebuild kiwi populations all over New Zealand. While our work revolves around growing and protecting kiwi, there are many other environmental, cultural, economic and biodiversity flow-on effects too – because the benefits of saving the kiwi go far beyond the forest.
This donation page is for U.S. tax residents only. If you are a New Zealand tax resident, please donate at savethekiwi.nz.

Help Will save the Kiwi (birds)
Why does the kiwi need help? Many New Zealand forests are no longer safe for kiwi due to the impact of introduced pests and predators like stoats, ferrets, and dogs. In fact, 95% of kiwi chicks that hatch in areas without active predator control will be killed before they reach breeding age. There is some good news though. Where the work is being done, kiwi numbers are bouncing back. Parts of the country that have fallen silent are starting to hear the sound of kiwi once more.
