Project Soar SEL was founded by Christina King, an educator, community advocate, and mother of four with more than 16 years of experience working alongside children, youth, and families. Christina holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, a Graduate Certificate in Urban Education, and a Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling with a focus in Child and Family Development. Her passion has always centered on helping children feel supported, confident, and emotionally safe both inside and outside of the classroom.
Project Soar SEL was created from a deep belief that strong communities are built by intentionally investing in children and families early. Through social-emotional learning, literacy, art, mentorship, and meaningful family engagement, Project Soar SEL works to create positive childhood experiences that serve as protective factors against adversity while helping children develop confidence, emotional awareness, resilience, and connection.
What makes this work different is that it is led by a dedicated “boots on the ground” mom and educator who understands both the heart and the real-life challenges families and schools face every day. Project Soar SEL is committed to building systems and experiences that truly work for children, parents, educators, and communities with lasting support rooted in connection and consistency.
Every donation poured into Project Soar SEL directly helps provide enriching literacy and art experiences, SEL resources, family workshops, and community-centered opportunities designed to strengthen the whole child and build healthier futures for generations to come.
