Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee and the Cumberlands is Tennessee's largest nonprofit law firm, dedicated to ensuring that every person — regardless of income — has access to justice.

Our mission is to advance, defend, and enforce the legal rights of low-income and otherwise vulnerable people in order to secure for them the basic necessities of life. We are committed to the principle that all citizens are due equal representation under the law.

We serve 48 counties across Middle Tennessee and the Cumberland Plateau, with offices in Clarksville, Columbia, Cookeville, Gallatin, Murfreesboro, Nashville, Oak Ridge, and Tullahoma.

Every day, we see families facing eviction, parents fighting for their children, and individuals struggling against unfair treatment — all because they can't afford the legal help they desperately need. Our work is organized through five Practice Groups focusing on specific needs within our community, handling a broad range of cases to protect the livelihood, health, and safety of low-income families.
