Legacy Treatment Services is a vibrant, behavioral health nonprofit agency with more than 70 programs and services throughout New Jersey, serving more than 20,000 individuals a year. The organization utilizes cutting edge technology and evidence-based practices in treatment and clinical care that ensure our continuum of integrated care meet individuals and families at their specific points of need.

Legacy's mission is to change the behavioral health and social service outcomes for people of all ages from surviving to thriving. Legacy’s mission is the cornerstone for providing state-of-the-art services and best practices in multiple levels of care. This continuum of care provides continuity and stability in Legacy’s wide range of expert services such as prevention programs, crisis intervention, outpatient therapy and psychiatric services, substance abuse services, therapeutic foster care, residential programs, juvenile detention alternatives, case management, developmental disability services, and a special education school.

Legacy was created as a merger between The Children’s Home and The Drenk Center.

The Children’s Home was established in 1864 as an orphanage for children of the Civil War. Initially only providing custodial care, the Children’s Home responded to community needs in 1937 and became the first agency to employ a social service caseworker and begin therapeutic treatment in a residential setting.

The Drenk Center, founded in 1954 by Judge Lester A. Drenk, began as a counseling program for Burlington County juveniles and their families. Since 1954, The Drenk Center has seen a steady expansion of services to meet higher levels of consumer needs in outpatient settings. Together, these organizations formed Legacy Treatment Services in 2014. Community Treatment Solutions affiliated with Legacy in 2017.

Since Legacy responds to children, youth and adults who have a variety of complex mental and behavioral health needs, the organization ensures that its multidisciplinary staff is well-trained and mission-driven with programs are individualized, strength-based and trauma-informed.
