Homeward Bound of Marin pursues a mission of "opening doors to safety, dignity, hope and independence" with a goal of "ending homelessness through training, housing and hope." Founded in 1974, the organization has grown to become Marin County's chief provider of shelter and services for homeless families and adults, serving almost 600 people per night and offering a robust job training program at Fresh Starts Culinary Academy. Our programs work with a broad network of local agencies to create wraparound services that help each person find their individual path to stability and open paths to housing. With community support, Homeward Bound celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024 by opening 50 new homes for veterans, families and working adults who are rebuilding after an episode of homelessness.
