Our global commons — the climate, ocean, rainforests, and freshwater systems that keep Earth stable and enable thriving societies — are being pushed past boundaries that science tells us we cannot safely transgress. The Global Commons Alliance (GCA) exists to make that reality impossible to ignore, championing the systemic changes across governance, economics, and culture that a just world on a safe planet demands.
As no single organization can drive the transformation needed, the GCA brings together a diverse ecosystem of organizations — from science and civil society to business networks and philanthropy — holding the space for collective systems thinking and prioritization, facilitating learning exchange, and orchestrating partnerships that combine diverse expertise. These partners then carry this shared intelligence into collaborative action — shaping policies, mobilizing business, and building public campaigns that translate systems-level insight into real-economy change. In this way, the GCA’s convening role is a powermultiplier across the systems-change ecosystem.
