The Geanco Foundation
Our mission is to save and transform the lives of the poor and vulnerable in Africa.
Established in 2005, The GEANCO Foundation saves and transforms lives in Africa. We conduct complex surgical missions and run an innovative program to fight anemia in Nigeria. Through our system of modern, solar-powered rural maternal clinics, we help poor, vulnerable pregnant women safely deliver healthy babies.
In addition to donating laptops, tablets, books, medicine and sports facilities to schools, our David Oyelowo Leadership Scholarship for Girls provides full tuition, healthcare, and social & psychological support to young female survivors of terrorism and gender inequality in Nigeria.
We proudly count among our supporters Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, Benedict Cumberbatch, Charlize Theron, David Oyelowo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Chris Rock, Zoe Saldana, Rachel Brosnahan, Jimmy Kimmel, Thandie Newton, Tyrese, Rosario Dawson, Andrew Garfield, Jeff Daniels, Daisy Ridley, Forest Whitaker, Yvonne Orji, Uzo Aduba, Cynthia Erivo, Bryan Cranston, Steven Soderbergh, Billy Ray, Janus Funds, Capital Group Companies, CAA, ICM, UTA, The Oscars, Fox Studios, Disney, Google, and Netflix.
Afam Onyema graduated cum laude from Harvard University and Stanford Law School and declined multiple lucrative corporate law offers to lead GEANCO full-time. In 2020, he was named one of the Top Ten Most Influential Africans in the Diaspora.
