Mission and Guiding Principles
The Faith Alliance for Climate Solutions (FACS) unites people of faith, and friends who share our values, to develop local solutions to the climate crisis. We pursue four purposes in our work:
- to sound a spiritual call to address the disruption caused by carbon pollution heating our planet;
- to encourage moral climate policies from a nonpartisan perspective based in peer-reviewed science;
- to enable congregations to do good works that protect all living things; and
- to empower congregations to become champions of change.
We work primarily on the local level, and occasionally on the state level, where we have the greatest impact.
Faithful voices are valuable in the conversation on climate change, drawing on a deep well of love for each other and generations to come.
Our network includes Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Protestant, Quaker, Unitarian-Universalist, and other faith traditions. Our work is done in Northern Virginia and nearby jurisdictions. Our headquarters is in Fairfax County, the most populous jurisdiction in Virginia.
