Community Based Inclusive Development Organization (CBIDO) is a not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) registered under the Non- Governmental Organizations Act number 24 of 2002 as amended from time to time and issued registration certificate Number 00NGO/R/0659 on 7th October 2019 with a mandate to operate in Tanzania mainland. CBIDO is headquartered in Karagwe District, Kagera Region, Tanzania.

CBIDO is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious and non-partisan that exist to promote, support disability prevention interventions aiming at enhancing access to comprehensive maternity services from family planning reproductive health, antenatal and postnatal services during the 1st two years of child’s life. Also our organization promotes rehabilitation services to Children and Youngsters with Disabilities under 25 years,

PROGRAM GOAL

The overall program goal is to include all CYWDs within the society as full accepted members, with access to education, health services, social protection and inclusion and livelihood; and pregnant mothers and children under two years to access needed health services within Tanzania

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

• Strengthening the existing healthcare service delivery in the dispensaries (in a respective ward) particularly maternal and childcare to prevent birth defects and (childhood) disabilities focussed on the 1st 1000 days. (PREVENTION PROGRAM).

• Increasing community awareness on disability-inclusive societies, in order to improve access to healthcare (including rehabilitation), education, livelihood opportunities and participation in social life for people with a disability by strengthening local systems in respective wards.

STRATEGIC AREAS OF FOCUS

• Disability Prevention services (1st 1000 days). This strategic focus area is to enhance access to comprehensive maternity services from family planning, reproductive health, antenatal and postnatal services, safe delivery and vaccination during the first 2 years of the child’s life.

• Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Healthcare Services which aims at supporting Children and Youngsters with Disabilities (CYWDs) to attain quality healthcare and rehabilitation services.

• Inclusive Education, to facilitate access to inclusive education for CYWDs.

• Socio-Economic Empowerment and Livelihoods Development where the capacity of Youngsters with Disabilities (YWD’s) is built to facilitate access to decent productive work through life skills training and through Disabled People’s Associations (DPAs) in each CBIDO’s catchment areas to increase their socio-economic resilience to attain better quality of life.

PROGRAM WORKING MODALITY/ APPROACH

CBIDO implements Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Pamoja Program which is a joint program between Local Government Authorities at district, Ward and village levels. The collaborative parties use a Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID) approach which is person centered and community focused. The program interventions are based on the Community based Rehabilitation (CBR) modal as guided by WHO using the 5 pillars that is Health, Inclusive Education, Livelihood, Social Inclusion and Empowerment. This model is looking holistically at the Child and the fields to work on to reach a full inclusive life.

Improve Quality of life of persons with disabilities

Title: Unlocking Futures for Children and Youngsters with Disabilities At CBIDO, we know that disability should never mean despair. Yet in rural districts of Karagwe, Missenyi, Ngara, and Kyerwa, persons with disabilities especially children and youngsters with disabilities are left behind, hidden from school, denied medical care and living undignified life. Your support helps us change : Community mindsets, direct medical and therapeutic services for quality lives and the donation will add values in Disability prevention considering our current modal which focuses on ''Prevention is better than cure' ' With your donations, CBIDO provides early disability prevention, access to health care, education, life skills training for a decent life to youths with disabilities and family support. In 2024, CBIDO supported 1,602 Children and Youth with Disabilities (CYWDs) in all CBR domains, 556 parents and care givers were coached and trainined on appropriate therapies. 65 Youngesters imparted with life skills and supported with start up kits. Your support means a lot in signifying lives of children and youngsters with disabilities, together we bring a smile to the family living with a child with disability be the one attributing the joyful lives to this marginalized group in Tanzania. Every dollar count: $200 = Will enable a child with CP to access all needed Therapies, (Physiotherapy, Occupational therapy Nutrition Therapy, Speech Therapy, currently 250 children are in program annually $150 = Will support a child with disability to access a quality education annually the program has 185 children in schools $200 = Will support mobility aid like a wheelchair or hearing aid, CP chairs, walking frames bikes, clutches, parallel bars, standing frames, and other one fits devices. $385 = Will support a youngster with disability to access life skills training. $1000 = Awareness campaigns for disability prevention to reach more than 500 people.
