The English Learning Center (ELC) is a nonprofit organization that runs Seeds of Change-Chocó, an education program empowering youth in Chocó by providing them with the tools they need to prepare for meaningful life projects and future careers.
Our Mission: To be a point of reference in the region for our leadership in educational and cultural activities. Through teaching English and teacher training, we contribute to building the country's and its regions' prosperity.
Our Vision: To be agents of change in building a nation and a region with more opportunities for everybody through high-quality educational programs. We firmly believe in education and love for others as instruments that unite and generate brotherhood between people and their people.
Seeds Of Change in a Nutshell
Seeds Of Change is designed and implemented as an after school program to provide high-quality education to 20 students (10 boys and 10 girls), who will be supported from 9th grade to 11th grade.
This program will enable students to fully develop their potential in mathematics, critical reading, and English. In addition to academic subjects, the program includes a component dedicated to character building.
This is an in-person academic program augmented by technological tools, enriching learning experiences, online learning, and interaction with special guests (including national figures and other young learners).
Each individual is a seed capable of making a positive impact in their community!
Building Opportunities For Youth In Chocó Department
Programs like Seeds of Change do not exist in Chocó deparment, primarily because they receive no funding at all. These children seem to be invisible to local and national authorities. That's why we turn to you with the hope of making them visible and amplifying their voices.
The most effective way to support Seeds of Change-Chocó is through donations, which will provide these children with a unique opportunity in life.
The cost of the program for each student is 845 USD per school year, as a one-time donation. This amount can also be divided into monthly donations throughout the year.
This year, we are also fundraising for the 2024 cohort, aiming to empower another 20 children to improve their lives.
