Metabolic Psychiatric Recovery Program - picture shows Rolling green hills and distant mountains bathed in golden sunset light, with a narrow dirt road winding through a lush valley. Signifying the path to recovery.

Founded in 2022 by licensed mental health counselor Nicole Laurent, Brain Fog Recovery Source began quietly providing low-cost or free ketogenic metabolic therapy to individuals struggling with serious psychiatric disorders. After witnessing remarkable psychiatric recoveries and a growing demand from individuals unable to access or benefit from traditional treatment methods, the organization expanded its mission and reach.

Making Ketogenic Therapy Accessible for Psychiatric Recovery – A Nonprofit Story

Today, Brain Fog Recovery Source delivers a clinician-led, online Metabolic Psychiatric Recovery Program designed specifically for people experiencing debilitating psychiatric symptoms on government disability at no cost, as well improving accessibility for low-income individuals. By using ketogenic dietary interventions alongside comprehensive education and individualized support, participants can explore the hope and promise of ketogenic therapies and may achieve measurable reductions in psychiatric symptoms, improved cognitive clarity, and meaningful gains in daily functioning.

Your donation directly funds program access for individuals who cannot afford treatment, allowing us to provide essential education, personalized support, and a path toward recovery to those most in need.

Giving Tuesday: Fund No Waitlist December

Quarterly enrollments through our Metabolic Psychiatric Recovery Program initiative increased 84% from Q2 to Q3 and outpaced our original fundraising ask based on the best data we had about demand. So we started a wait list and right now there are 33 individuals on it , many with support persons, who are waiting to begin the enrollment process. Note: This is the number on the wait list at the time of this campaign post. We will update this number in the campaign description as it grows between now and Giving Tuesday. We would like to accommodate them sooner by using Giving Tuesday as a way to fundraise the costs of immediate access for these individuals and their support persons. Our goal is to onboard every last one of them by the end of December on top of our usual influx of program participants entering through the nonprofit. Why this matters now When someone finally reaches out for help, timing is everything. A wait list does more than delay access to the education and support needed to implement metabolic therapies for psychiatric recovery. It risks lost momentum, missed windows of motivation, and a continuation of suffering that could be relieved just a few weeks or months sooner. Funding No Waitlist December means we say yes to people closer to the day they are ready to begin. Removing the wait list this month turns intention into action while support networks are standing by with hope and encouragement. Who benefits The 33 people waiting to enroll include adults navigating severe mood and anxiety symptoms. Many have found us after years of trial and error with insufficient standard of care treatments. They are ready to follow a structured approach with education, support, and practical tools. Funding this campaign moves each of them from holding pattern to active participation in ketogenic and other metabolic therapies. What your gift makes possible Giving Tuesday donations open the flood gates into the program for those waiting. It funds the behind the scenes work that makes this possible such as staffing hours for onboarding, program coordination, and documentation review . In short, you are buying access to education, support, and a timely start date for someone who is ready to explore the hope and promise that metabolic therapies have to offer. Concrete impact this month Success for this campaign is simple and measurable. Zero people left on the wait list by December’s end. If we exceed our funding needs to clear the December wait list, those additional funds will expand capacity for January and beyond so we do not rebuild a wait list as new referrals arrive. As a Donor you will be invited to receive a Quarterly Report we send out showing the impact of your gift. You will see how many more people we were able to accommodate when this campaign meets or exceeds our needs, all thanks to you. How to think about your impact Gifts of any size work to move people off the list and into access. Recurring gifts help us manage increases in demand we didn't see coming each month. However you give, you shorten time to their first Q&A session and move someone off the wait list now. Join us Give so that readiness meets opportunity. Give so that families do not have to wait through the holidays. Give so that 33 people and their support persons can start now. Fund No Waitlist December at Brain Fog Recovery Source .

I know firsthand that this type of treatment works and I believe it should always be tried before pharma! Our bodies are amazing if we allow them to work properly with the fuels and nutrients they need to be in balance. Keep going Nicole!
