Human trafficking is an enormous and  pernicious challenge: more than 1,000,000 people per year experience labor and sexual exploitation in the US alone.

Financial independence is one of the most critical factors in a survivor’s healing journey. In many instances, a job training program that centers survivors’ unique needs and leads to high-wage career opportunities can mean the difference between re-exploitation and economic stability.

AnnieCannons offers a free, trauma-informed training program that brings survivors of trafficking into STEM fields and links them to high-paying, highly skilled careers. AnnieCannons’ team envisions a world where an individual's potential and access to opportunity dismantles society's systems of oppression and violence.

Be a Voice

Be a Voice: This campaign allows all donors and supporters to pin a note or letter to a survivor in our Coding and Training Program. Our students exemplify resilience, strength, and courage. Each individual student dedicates a year of their time to the program and upon completion, advance into a career in technology. Self sufficiency, sustainability, and the elimination of re-exploitation are critical outcomes of the work of AnnieCannons and its' participating survivors in the program. Through training, coaching, and a community of care, survivors of trafficking can establish sustainable technology careers, break the cycle of exploitation, and achieve economic stability for themselves and their families. Since 2015, AnnieCannons has placed students in full time jobs and apprenticeships to help build careers. 70% of students secured employment, and AnnieCannons students have worked on over 100 software projects, earning over $3.4 million in income building software. Long Term Impact for survivors in the AnnieCannons Coding Training Program Survivors and their families experience an increase of stable employment, financial security, and overall well-being. Our impact looks like a growing number of resilient survivors and their families who are capable of withstanding economic shocks and stresses that often lead to conditions of vulnerability and exploitation. As a society, we see a greater shift in cultural perspective from survivor “rescue” to reintegration, prevention, and opportunity. We are, collectively, able to highlight and support an individual’s potential and reduce dependence on exploitative labor industries. We will create greater inclusivity and diversity of those with lived experience in the technology industry.
