Alliance for Medical Access (AMA) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization proudly awarded the Platinum Seal of Transparency by Candid (GuideStar), the highest level of recognition for nonprofit accountability and openness. This distinction reflects our unwavering commitment to financial integrity, operational transparency, and measurable impact — giving donors complete confidence in how their contributions are stewarded.
Our singular mission is ensuring that universal and equitable healthcare is not a privilege reserved for the few, but a fundamental right accessible to all — regardless of geography, income, or circumstance.
Who We Are
AMA was founded on the conviction that no one should be denied essential healthcare because of where they were born. We are a consortium of local expertise united for global health equity. Our organization bridges the gap between vulnerable populations and life-saving care by working at the intersection of community action and institutional capacity. We do not impose top-down solutions. Instead, we empower local actors who understand the cultural, social, and medical realities of their communities better than any external organization ever could.
Our approach is rooted in partnership, humility, and evidence. We recognize that sustainable health outcomes are only achievable when local communities are active participants in shaping, delivering, and sustaining their own healthcare systems.
Where We Work
AMA operates across two strategically vital regions where healthcare access remains critically inadequate:
Sub-Saharan Africa, where we are active in countries including Nigeria, Kenya, Benin, Burkina Faso, Togo, Mali, Niger, and Cameroon. In these nations, weak health infrastructure, insufficient medical supplies, and a shortage of trained health workers leave millions without basic care.
South Asia, including Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Laos. Here, extreme poverty, geographic isolation, political instability, and fragile health systems combine to create some of the world's most urgent unmet medical needs.
In every country where we operate, our interventions are adapted to local realities. We do not apply one-size-fits-all programs. Instead, we listen, assess, and co-design solutions with the communities we serve.
What We Do
AMA delivers equitable healthcare where it matters most through four core pillars of action:
1. Essential Medicines Access
We ensure that life-saving medications reach the patients who need them most. In many of the communities we serve, a simple antibiotic, antimalarial, or maternal health drug can mean the difference between life and death. We work to eliminate barriers to pharmaceutical access — whether logistical, financial, or systemic.
2. Community Health Worker Training
In rural clinics across Nigeria and Kenya, community health workers are the frontline bridge between vulnerable populations and professional medical care. AMA invests heavily in training, equipping, and supporting these vital workers. They are not merely service providers — they are trusted neighbors, advocates, and educators who understand the unique health challenges of their communities.
3. Health Systems Strengthening
We do not believe in temporary fixes. AMA works to build resilient, sustainable health systems by supporting local clinics, improving supply chains, enhancing diagnostic capacity, and strengthening the governance and management structures of local health institutions. Our goal is to leave behind systems that continue to serve communities long after our direct intervention ends.
4. Fiscal Sponsorship
AMA provides 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsorship to vetted field organizations — enabling them to receive international grants and funding without the burden of establishing their own U.S. nonprofit status. This program is a force multiplier: it allows promising local initiatives to scale their impact, access global funding streams, and focus their energy on delivering results rather than navigating complex administrative hurdles. Through fiscal sponsorship, we expand our reach exponentially, supporting health projects and allied sectors including education, livelihoods, climate and environment, gender, economic empowerment, WASH, and nutrition.
Our Terrain Partners
AMA's impact is only as strong as the organizations we work alongside. We call them our Terrain Partners — locally rooted organizations that bring deep community trust, cultural fluency, and operational knowledge that no outside NGO could replicate. Each partner has earned the confidence of the communities they serve through years of consistent, respectful engagement. We do not replace them; we amplify them. By providing funding, technical assistance, capacity building, and operational infrastructure, we help our terrain partners scale what already works.
Why Your Investment Matters
Every contribution to Alliance for Medical Access goes directly toward strengthening healthcare access where it is most denied. Your funding supports:
- The procurement and distribution of essential medicines to clinics that would otherwise go without
- The training and deployment of community health workers who serve as the first — and often only — point of medical contact for rural families
- The operational and financial infrastructure that allows local organizations to access international funding and scale their proven interventions
- The strengthening of health systems so that communities are not permanently dependent on external aid
In rural clinics across our areas of operation, a trained community health worker with access to essential medicines can reduce child mortality, prevent maternal deaths, manage chronic diseases, and respond to outbreaks before they become crises. Your investment makes that possible.
Our Commitment to Transparency and Accountability
As a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) organization with the Platinum Seal of Transparency from Candid (GuideStar), AMA adheres to the highest standards of financial governance, reporting, and accountability. The Platinum Seal is the most rigorous level of nonprofit transparency, requiring comprehensive disclosure of strategy, results, and finances. This means donors can verify our impact, track our progress, and trust that every dollar is deployed with maximum efficiency and integrity. We are committed to regular reporting on program outcomes, financial stewardship, and the real-world impact of contributions.

Healthcare is a right, not a privilege. Yet for millions of people across Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia, that right remains out of reach. Alliance for Medical Access is changing that — one community, one clinic, one health worker at a time.
We invite institutional donors, foundations, corporate partners, and individual philanthropists to join us in this vital work. Your partnership is not merely a donation — it is an investment in health equity, human dignity, and sustainable development.
Together, we can ensure that no community is left behind.
