The Rainforest Foundation US supports Indigenous peoples and forest communities in their efforts to secure their lands, protect their environment, and uphold their rights. We provide the tools, training, and resources that ensure the rainforests’ best guardians are able to defend their forests.

At the critical intersection of environmental protection and human rights, we challenge traditional conservation models that protect nature by excluding people. Since our founding, we have stood in solidarity with those who call the rainforest home.

Supporting Indigenous peoples on the frontlines of rainforest protection is not just the right thing to do—it is also a smart and effective strategy. Rainforests protected by Indigenous peoples have significantly lower rates of deforestation than even national parks—and healthy forests are vital for preserving biodiversity and slowing climate change.

We focus on three priority areas where we can make the greatest impact: Land RightsRainforest Protection, and Strengthening Organizations. We also help shape Forest Policy.
