Women's Initiatives for Gender Justice is an international feminist human rights organization that envisions a gender‑just world through the law. Since our founding in 2004, we have worked to transform the international justice system by advancing accountability for gender‑based violence and advocating for inclusive, survivor‑sensitive justice for all.
We bring two decades of experience monitoring the International Criminal Court (ICC) and championing gender‑inclusive justice. Our work includes legal research and monitoring, high‑level advocacy at the ICC, the United Nations (UN) as well as other international accountability mechanisms, and building global networks that challenge inequality and promote solidarity.
Leveraging our access, expertise, and influence, we work with and through trusted local partners who are embedded in communities directly affected by armed conflict and mass crimes. Through these partnerships, we strengthen the capacity of those working directly with survivors to deliver legal assistance, psychosocial support, and other vital services.
We also support and facilitate efforts to advance landmark cases for gender‑based crimes in domestic and international courts, ensuring that partner priorities and survivor‑sensitive perspectives shape decisions, strengthen legal outcomes, and influence global policy. Our advocacy has contributed to precedent‑setting rulings, strengthened survivor participation in justice processes, and promote gender‑inclusive reparations frameworks — helping to ensure that justice systems respond effectively and equitably to the realities of those most impacted.
Your support helps us ensure survivors are heard, gender‑based crimes are prosecuted, and justice systems become more equitable and transformative. Together, we can make justice for survivors the norm — not the exception.
