Bordering Europe, Asia and the Middle East, the South Caucasus is one of the most biologically, culturally and linguistically diverse regions in the world– yet one that few have had the chance to explore. The high frequency of dangerous and confusing trail conditions and lack of reliable mapping data have served as major barriers to enjoying the region's spectacular mountains. Meanwhile, the lack of economic opportunities in remote mountain areas continues to push people to migrate to the cities in search of work– endangering the unique cultural heritage of these areas.

Now, united by a shared vision of a long-distance trail network across the region, a growing community of hikers, cartographers, and conservationists is working to put this hidden gem on the map, support sustainable tourism, and ensure that the landscapes and heritage of the region can be enjoyed by future generations.

The Transcaucasian Trail (TCT) will be a world-class, long-distance hiking trail more than 3,000km in length, following the Greater and Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The TCT will connect roughly two dozen national parks and protected areas in the region-- creating opportunities for economic development, environmental education, and cultural exchange along the trail corridor.
