Asbestos Victims of America dba The Rabbit Haven is a nonprofit organization focused on preserving, protecting, and improving environment. It is based in Scotts Valley, CA. It received its nonprofit status in 1981.
AVA's project the Rabbit Haven, Cavy Haven and the Haven Network are animal welfare focused. We also offer support for pet therapy animals for our clients. Operating since 1987, these projects provide rescue, foster and adoption support for animals. We rescue approximately 700 animals per year. We place 85%. AVA/The Rabbit Haven and Cavy Haven are education organizations. We are classified as animal welfare and human health education services.
100% of our staff are all-volunteer. All funds received go directly to the care of rabbits and Cavies in our care. The Haven programs support two large adoption events monthly for rabbits and Open weekly adoptions for guinea pigs. Public education is offered through AVA/the Haven 365 days per yr. These services include referrals to helping professionals and rescue services and information to shelters in our area.
The Haven offers network services to protect and provide for abandoned rabbits, Cavies, birds and other small animals. Working closely with local doctors in the area we offer vaccine clinics and microchipping for rabbits. We offer spay neuter referral as well.
The haven maintains approximately 90- foster sites where our rescued animals are housed. Haven volunteers provide approximately 16,000 hours of service every year.
