TAF is a Kenyan women-led, grassroots organization working to end exclusion, discrimination, and systemic inequality faced by children and youth with disabilities (CYWDs) and their caregivers in underserved communities. Since 2009, TAF has delivered health and inclusive education services to over 25,000 children with disabilities at our outreach centers and through partnerships with public and community-level schools and health facilities. With 15 years of demonstrated success in delivering impactful programs, we are dedicated to championing a movement for disability-inclusive service delivery across Kenya and Africa.

Our experience has revealed that children and youth with disabilities experience severe marginalization, poverty, violence, social exclusion, and unequal access to opportunities. Additionally, we know that girls and women with disabilities disproportionately face socio-economic exclusion, barriers to education, and heightened risk of Gender Based Violence (GBV). Our mission is to improve the quality of life of children and Youth with Disabilities (CYWDs) through programs that span their entire lifecycle, from early years to adolescence and adulthood. We envision a fully inclusive Africa where CYWDs can thrive. Our three pillars shape and drive our efforts to fulfill our mission and vision:

We are dedicated to empowering CYWDs to reach their full potential and make meaningful contributions to their communities. Our programs, Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation, Foundational Learning, Adolescent and Youth Empowerment, and Adolescent Girls and Young Women’s Leadership Development, create pathways for CYWDs to reach their full potential and contribute meaningfully to their communities. Through strategic collaborations with national and sub-national government agencies, local leaders, and organizations, we advocate for inclusive policies and practices that prioritize disability inclusion and address gender disparities. Additionally, we gather, analyze, and disseminate data to gain deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities in service delivery for CYWDs, enabling us to implement effective and impactful interventions.

Help Children with Disabilities Access Health and Education

In Kenya's informal settlements and rural areas, thousands of children with disabilities face daily barriers to learning and health. Many are excluded from school, not because they lack ability, but because of poverty, stigma, and inaccessible services. Families living on less than $2 a day cannot afford school fees, therapy, transport, or medical care, leaving children vulnerable and without opportunity. Through The Action Foundation’s Child Health and Development and Foundational Learning Programs , we provide comprehensive support that enables children with disabilities to grow up healthy, confident, and ready to learn. Our approach goes far beyond paying school fees; we nurture the whole child by supporting their health, development, and learning needs. How You Can Help $20 – Provides school supplies, hygiene essentials, and a dignity pack for one child. $50 – Supports therapy and transport for one month. $315 – Keeps a child in school for a term with assistive support. $945 – Funds a full-year scholarship, including fees, therapy, and learning materials. $9,450 – Gives 10 children a full year of inclusive education and care. You can also choose to give monthly to help children stay in school all year long. Together, we can ensure that every child with a disability has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
