Founded in 1999 by two young Canadians, TakingITGlobal has received international recognition for its programs fostering creative confidence, intercultural understanding, and social entrepreneurship in millions of young people. Global Youth Action Network is our US non-profit entity.
With over 25,000 educators engaged with TakingITGlobal for Educators (TIGed) programming, from over 5,000 schools in over 150 countries, including over 3,000 Canadian educators, we connect hundreds of thousands of students worldwide to meaningful, interactive learning experiences.
Included in this work is TakingITGlobal's Connected North program, connecting Indigenous students living in Canada's remote North to virtual experiences and opportunities not available to them locally. Through this interactive education program, students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 can access learning opportunities through live, high-definition video technology. Connected North’s goal is about equitable access to education, ensuring students in remote communities have access to the same opportunities and experiences as students elsewhere in Canada. We aim to provide content that is engaging and innovative to increase feelings of empowerment in school and in life, improving outcomes for Indigenous students.
