Seeking Safety and Justice for Survivors of Violence

The Tahirih Justice Center is a national, nonprofit organization that serves women, girls, and all immigrant survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Our holistic approach provides each survivor with free legal support and social services to secure their rights and build stable lives. We apply expertise gained from serving our clients to training, education, and advocacy to ensure that systems, laws, and policies enable immigrant survivors to break free from violence and exploitation.

By amplifying the experiences of survivors, our mission is to create a world in which all people share equal rights and live in safety and with dignity.

DIRECT SERVICES

We support survivors of violence through free legal and social services, from direct representation to emergency shelter, food, and health care. Access to these basic needs allows Tahirih clients  to build lives of safety and comfort in a new and unfamiliar place.

POLICY ADVOCACY

We engage in nonpartisan public policy advocacy—centering the needs of immigrant survivors in communities, courts, and Congress—to ensure that laws and policies protect survivors’ right to be free from violence and exploitation.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH & TRAINING

We educate thousands of frontline professionals on the unique obstacles that immigrant survivors face, giving communities the essential tools they need to help survivors in crisis.

 PRO BONO NETWORK

We partner with a nationwide network of more than 2,800 pro bono attorneys, medical professionals, and other volunteers, multiplying the impact of every dollar donated.
