Who we are
SpineHope is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, founded in 2008 and based in Austin, Texas (EIN 26-2126362). Our mission is to transform children’s lives worldwide through spine surgery, education, and research.
A child living with a severe spinal deformity is not only in pain. Isolation, bullying, and lost confidence often follow. Families in under-resourced communities frequently cannot reach modern pediatric spine care at all. SpineHope exists to change that trajectory.
How we work
Most children we treat are cared for in their own country. Volunteer surgical teams travel to partner hospitals, operate alongside host surgeons, and train local teams so more children can be treated after we leave.
When a host operating room cannot safely carry a selected case, the U.S. Hub is a second door: charity spine care in the United States at no cost to the family.
We also publish education and support resources for patients and families living with complex spine conditions.
What generosity has already made possible
Since formalizing in 2008 (mission work dating to 2001), SpineHope has worked across 11 countries. Public partners and volunteer teams have contributed $40 million+ in donated medical services and product. Cash gifts fund the coordination, travel, implants, follow-up, and training that turn donated surgical time into completed care.
Our five-year aim, published on spinehope.org, is to provide surgical care to 1,000 children by 2031.
What your gift does
A gift through this page becomes cash for SpineHope’s mission. On current mission economics, about $4,000 helps underwrite one child’s surgical care on a global outreach trip — team travel, case coordination, and the cash costs that donated implants and volunteer surgeons cannot cover alone.
Gifts are unrestricted unless you tell us otherwise, which lets us put support where the next child and the next operating room actually need it.
Why give stock or crypto here
Appreciated stock and cryptocurrency are often the most efficient way for donors to give. When you donate those assets through this Every.org page:
- Every.org receives and liquidates the asset
- 100% of the converted proceeds are granted to SpineHope as cash
- You receive a tax receipt from Every.org
- SpineHope never has to open a brokerage or crypto wallet
If you have held the asset more than one year, donating it instead of selling it first can be more tax-efficient than writing a check of the same size. That is a planning question for your advisor; we are not giving tax advice. We are set up so the gift itself is simple.
We also accept cash, cards, and donor-advised fund grants on this same page.
