Rubenshuis Located in the center of Antwerp, the Rubenshuis is the former home and workshop of the brilliant and versatile artist Peter Paul Rubens. He lived in this Italian-style palazzo with his family in the early 1600s. It is also where he painted with his colleagues and assistants – the place where he created many of his paintings. The museum showcases an interesting collection of artworks and shows visitors how the master lived and worked.
Rubenianum and Centrum Rubenianum The rich artistic tradition of the Southern Netherlands encompasses thousands of famous and lesser-known masters. In order to ensure an enduring appreciation and understanding of their work, research and expertise are essential. This is where the Rubenianum comes in - developing expertise and initiating art-historical research on Flemish art of the 16th and 17th centuries.
For its part, the Centrum Rubenianum was established to produce the complete catalogue of the oeuvre of Peter Paul Rubens, which includes an estimated 2,500 compositions and 10,000 works of art. Called the 'Corpus Rubenianum Ludwig Burchard', the catalogue will not only discuss and interpret every painting, every drawing and every sketch by Rubens. It will also list all the prints and tapestries that were produced under his supervision.
