Rights Action Lab supports mission-aligned projects that advance human rights for people living under extreme repression by harnessing the power of secure digital communications tools with creative nonviolent activism and education. Staff and collaborators include strategists, developers, campaigners, public intellectuals, researchers and facilitators.
We facilitate linkages and support programs that provide education and training, research and advocacy, technology development and digital security outreach, including
– Educational programs on Internet freedom, digital security and protecting against spyware
– Evidence-based research to advance campaigns and support the development of freedom-enhancing technologies
– In-depth training on strategic organizing and advocacy, and the application of nonviolent strategies
– Development of new software that enables secure, private communications for rights defenders, journalists, activists and others seeking freedom of expression
– Network building between communities facing extreme human rights violations
