Proteus Social Innovation and Development

"Proteus Social Innovation and Development" as an organization has been operational and providing deliverables to its ecosystem since 2009. It has recently gone through a restructuring process to better serve its mission. The company transitioned from a Social Cooperative Enterprise, that operated from 2014 to 2020 into a Civil Non-Profit Company that commenced operation in December 2020. Under its new legal status, it aims to continue and to expand in its past deliverables, track record and deployment of its strategic plan. "Proteus Social Innovation & Development" believes that through impactful and regenerative regional social, educational, and economic development we will be able to address and reverse the regional and national brain-drain of Greece. It aims to develop the Island of Andros into a pilot for the "Islands of Social Innovation" model, harnessing the power of the three pillars of the Greek Economy (Maritime, Tourism and Agriculture) amplified with technology for systemic economic and educational change. For 2021 "Proteus Social Innovation and Development" is improving its governance, organizational infrastructure and enriches its programs and services to improve on its impact delivery and monitoring. Particularly the organization: - Has already signed an MOU with "Enkhuizer Zeevaartschool" of the Netherlands for transferring of traditional sail-training know-how to Greece. Additionally, we are in discussions with Tall Ships for Sail-Training Voyages in Greece to create more impact on the EIDOTHEA Sail Training Program and act as a proof of concept for the development of a Greek Tall Ship Sail-training Program. - Intends to repair and rig with a lateen sail for traditional sailing workshops the boat "Saint Ermolaos" L.A. 142. - Is expanding its cooperation with "Andrion Club" in providing organizational and secretariat support, as well as consultancy in social and educational program development, as well as membership expansion and fundraising. - Has already created a Research Department and is participating in a European Commission Sponsored multi-stakeholder multi-national from Mediterranean countries 3-year Research project proposal, led by the University of Cyprus, titled: "Agriculture and Tourism: Climate services for empowerment and shielding of the Mediterranean countries through a participatory symbiotic approach-ShieldMED". - Is participating in the organizing committee of the "12th Panhellenic Maritime Museums Conference" that will take place in Andros Island on the second week of June. - Is promoting the island of Andros as a location for Filming and Advertising Productions to expand the local economy. - Is cooperating with "Drashta Impact" in the UK, to create impact investment opportunities in Andros and towards Sustainable Shipping.
