Painted Chair Project - Amys Gift

The Painted Chair Project strives to prevent homelessness by creating first-ever homes for youth aging out of foster care and for individuals or families emerging from homelessness after crisis or disaster by transforming their empty house into a warm, welcoming and uplifting home.
 

Organization Purpose:

We know that individuals 18-24 in Utah who are aging out of foster care or emerging from homelessness likely do not have the familial and community support system that many young adults depend on for financial and emotional support. It is our goal to provide these underprivileged youth and young adults with assistance in furnishing and decorating their homes in order to make it feel like a safe and welcoming place for them to return to. Through this experience individuals learn money management and the basics of home maintenance and repair. We work with a creative network of individuals, community leaders, and corporations to finance and complete these projects. Our ultimate goal is to create a space where these young adults and youth feel safe and can find a sense of stability, thus empowering them to grow and begin identifying what a successful and meaningful life entails for each of them.
