Lamoille Restorative Center is a nonprofit organization with 18 staff and 14 active volunteers. LRC was established in 1979 with the mission of upholding the dignity and resilience of individuals and families through restorative justice principles and programs. In 2023 about 700 children, youth, and adults were served by one of LRC’s 12 programs.
LRC's core values are simple:
HOPE
DIGNITY
KINDNESS
EMPATHY
LRC's services fit into one of three buckets: school and community success, employment success, and legal system interventions. About half of LRC’s program participants have risk factors for future involvement in the legal system; for example, lack of school engagement, growing up in poverty, having disabilities, and living with mental health and/or substance use challenges. The other half are involved somehow in the legal system; from those who commit low level criminal actions, to those returning to the community from prison.
