I recently returned from my first trip to Israel where I toured around the country and celebrated my bat mitzvah. In my Torah portion, I learned about the values and importance of making promises. One of the promises I have made as a Bat Mitzvah is to donate to the humanitarian organization, IsraAID. What I love about IsraAID is that they are among the first ones to arrive at a disaster and the last ones to leave. 

I learned all about their work when I visited their global headquarters in Tel Aviv last week. My goal is to raise $5,000 to go toward one of their biggest projects, addressing the refugee crisis due to the war in Ukraine. The money raised will go to support the basic needs of refugees -- including water filtration systems that cost around $2200 each but can each provide clean water to hundreds of people, as well as access to counseling and emotional support for those who are dealing with the trauma of being in a war. Helping Ukrainian refugees has become one of IsraAID’s most significant projects and much more support will be needed as the situation evolves.

I'm inspired by the work of IsraAID and am grateful to Yotam and his team for sharing more about their work when I was in Tel Aviv.  I am committing my own money to support IsraAID and I hope you will consider joining me too!
