Since 2013 Hammerstone School has been fostering self-reliance through an introduction to building skills in a space absent of preconceptions about what we may or may not know or may or may not be capable of.
Our courses are designed to counteract long-standing gender imbalances in the trades. By creating learning environments specifically for women and gender minorities, we offer students a place to explore their capabilities free from judgment or outdated assumptions. From our very first class, this intentional space has received overwhelmingly positive feedback for its impact and approach.
While our regular offerings are reserved for women and non-binary participants, we also offer custom workshops open to people of all genders. These allow anyone to engage with our curriculum in a format that meets their needs while staying true to our mission of empowerment and inclusion.
At Hammerstone, we believe that building something with your own two hands can transform the way you see yourself and the world around you. Whether it’s the first time you pick up a power tool or the moment you step back and admire a bookshelf you built from scratch, what we’re really creating is confidence, community, and self-reliance.
All contributions support our operational expenses, for example:
$10 per month : Small tools, big impact! This gift helps us replace essential classroom supplies, like drill bits, clamps, and saw blades.
$50+ per month : Your steady support keeps us going. At this level, you help cover utilities, staff hours, and classroom materials that allow us to run smooth, safe, and empowering learning experiences all year long.
One-Time Gift of $500+ : You’re helping us grow. A gift at this level can purchase a new shared classroom tool, like a saw, giving students access to high-quality equipment and the confidence to use it.
